Broken up in 2020, right after retirement. Beautiful aircraft.

So sad she was broken up 😞 The -88’s were the last remaining passenger aircraft that had JT8D’s strapped to the tail. It’s not the same without them.. I miss flying on those and the DC-9’s!

Very nice. Looks like they went flaps 40 at first and then changed their mind and decided on a flaps 28 landing.
@jonahair7474 жыл бұрын
notafanboy Good eye! Yes they did, I was looking out the window in that moment and watched it happen. I’ve flown on a few flights on an 88 where they set flaps to full and retracted them back to 28. Love it!

I’ve did a many landings on those mad-dogs. Former airline employee here missing that distinct sound of those engines and reverse upon power back and landing.

Awesome sound! I liked the fast taxi! Looked like he hit about 45-50 mph. Guess the controller is pretty cool. Most freak out when you get above 20 lol.

Those wonderful days of loud reverse thrust and beautifully loud singing engines will soon be history. We are now in the era of quiet, boring airplanes. Love the Mad Dogs!!!

Why the fast taxi? Pilot had to hit the rest room? And an incredible short landing-neat stuff! Johanair, you flying often must be a thrill.

I live about 15 miles from the airport and i could always tell when the Atlanta md88 was landing. Way louder than the freighters
@jonahair7472 жыл бұрын
Yep!! I live 15min away from DTW as well. I didn’t even have to look outside when I heard those JT8D’s blowing off rooftops as it was taking off (even though I did go outside to watch it fly over me) 😂 I loved that airplane along with the DC-9’s!

Hey, I just wanted to say that you have a really good youtube channel, and I use it as inspiration for my small aviation channel. Thanks and keep up the good work.

It's surprising how fast the taxi in was,ATC must've had your flight land on a runway the furthest away from the terminals,amazing how rural looking the area is on final approach

Eh. They got good acceleration and reverse, but the MD-80…..nothing beats the sound of those P&W JT8D-200s! That sound is music to my ears!
