We are all boarded up and locked down here in Cozumel, last boat left for mainland a while ago. Hope it does jog a bit more northward. But wish us luck and we will see ya on the sunny side of this. Edit: We made it through, power just came back on! ya! we lost all of our fruit trees except the cocnuts, got a bit of flooded downstairs and some new cracks in the conrete walls and ceiling, but no deaths reported on the island! Thanks all for the good thoughts to get us through!!

Hurricane Laura destroyed our city our homes... i loss a 4bdrm 3bath home, We just found a 1 bedroom apartment on the 23rd bought new furniture & trying to make sense of it all. And now Delta. 🥺. I'm soooo tired, Just reserved my rooms, packing a bag & leaving the lil bit behind that I have gotten. Levi* Thank you. You never failed me yet. I was hit by Katrina on ms gulf coast. My parents then were hit with Rita. Now they are dealing with the aftermath of Laura. I barely escaped Sally and now watching Delta for my family. All I can say is keep the faith. You’re punch drunk right now. I had to deal with it too. All I can tell you is that this is temporary. You will get back on your feet!! I kept telling myself there is no place like the gulf coast and hurricanes are just the price I have to pay. You will get thru this!!! God bless.

It was Tuesday ~~~~ It is painful just reading your reply and here comes yet a second Hurricane. It is hard to explain the impact of such storms unless you actually see and live through it and here is yet another. It would not surprise me to hear that the combined area of destruction from this year's Hurricanes are close to what Katrina did. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family.

Nola here. So far these storms have been jogging around us all season, at this point I’m so over running to the store for water and supplies. Hopefully this isn’t a “boy who cried wolf” situation, and we finally end up getting hit after everyone has given up the idea of evacuation. Guess we’ll see. 🤷🏽♀️
@brendag14824 жыл бұрын
Isn't the idea of hurricane supplies supposed to be that you maintain the supply all season and avoid the last minute rush/shortages?
@Indistinguishablelady4 жыл бұрын
Brenda G**** Basic supplies like batteries, flashlights, candles, etc. Yes. Food and water we use after the immediate threat passes, we don’t have unlimited storage. 🤷🏽♀️

So, this has me wondering... what happens if a Greek lettered storm ends up being notable to the point where it would normally result in its name being retired?
@spicyleg67234 жыл бұрын
interesting thought!
@msgillian4 жыл бұрын
Right now, they won't retire the Greek names- they'll just get listed with their years. The theory was that they'd be used so rarely that retirement wouldn't be necessary. public.wmo.int/en/our-mandate/focus-areas/natural-hazards-and-disaster-risk-reduction/tropical-cyclones/Naming

How will this affect the craton and new madrid fault? This pin-point eyewall is an excellent example of energy that is conserved in rotational motion; the smaller the rotational diameter, the more energy and velocity. If the eyewall gets replace with a larger eye then the velocity with decrease - NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO A HUMAN - GET OUT OF HURRICANE DELTA'S PATH!!!!
@adriancioroianu17044 жыл бұрын
i dont think deep water temperature it's a big factor when you take into consideration Delta"s pace. She's moving so fast, there's no time for upwelling, i think the temperature of the first layer of water is way more important at this pace.
