My pregnant wife and I have been stuck in Florida away from my NYC home after my July 30 bar exam in Tampa. Of course, Delta is not sending us back home, keep delaying, canceling, and switching our flights without any communication whatsoever like literally last minute change we discover by checking delta app. My pregnant wife and I are STILL stuck in Florida and our 7pm flight just got changed to some flight to Atlanta and eventually got cancelled. No words from Delta whatsoever. We are calling Amex as they have been incredibly strong advocate for us and they said "Delta doesn't help you? They should be, not us, but we are still happy to assist." #DeleteDelta

the airline industry is particularly and uniquely vulnerable during disruptions due to its reliance on it's systems for operational support and crew planning/management. Other industries can simply just afford to lose a few hours of productivity, but an airline will suffer a domino effect. this is not something easily mitigated.

Jeez. What caused the blue screens was a d reference null pointer exception in the boot drive. A relatively common error. Microsoft let Crowdstrike have full systems access. Most programs you install don't get allowed that deep of an access to the entire system, Windows keeps programs from getting that level of access. That's the argument that is going to be made - that Microsoft gave crowdstrike a level of access so deep that protections from badly coded software against BSOD/complete system crashes no longer applied and 3rd party software was able to completely crash a system.

Delta employee here. Our crew tracking and management systems were severely impacted, whereas other airlines who did not use CrowdStrike in these systems did not have this issue. Delta should start by firing its CTO. They are the one that didn’t do due diligence on software they purchased and had installed across their devices and also choose not to maintain an IT team that could resolve the problem efficiently. CrowdStrike had already crashed Linux computers in April and should have been under review. Microsoft has no involvement in this issue and it shows deltas lack of competence to be including them in any action.
