What was the price difference between first class and economy on this flight? A more comfortable seat is nice but if that’s the only benefit on a 2 hour flight, ehhhhh not worth it unless it’s a small price difference.

You learned a good lesson. It's a waste of money to pay for first class tickets on a short flight. That has nothing to do with Delta - that applies to every airline. Only one other thing I would note is that they did not get the same snacks in economy that you got in first class.

Personally I would pay extra just to not be stuck in a middle seat. 2-2 seating is always better than 3-3.

Thanks. As you can see during the flight rating the price wasn‘t insane here but it is just annoying that you pay much more than Economy and in the end there‘s 0 difference to Economy despite the seats. Also Only packaged snack and no lounge access…

Haha! When I saw the water bottle, I was trying to figure out if there were 2 cup holders and couldn't see any cup holders at all, then realized its just a super tiny water bottle on top. Didn't know they made bottles like that.

I would and do... Not because of the seat but the cost... I usually book "comfort" for the extra leg room. However, I often have to check 2 bags on many of my trips. When you fly in the back of the plane, they charge you $30 for the first bag and $40 for the 2nd. That's $70 each way for 2 pieces of luggage. However for $80 more each way I can go first class, get through a special security line that gets me through in just minutes and I don't have to wait for almost an hour, I get on first and off first, plus the real reason is I get 2 checked bags for free... So is it worth it... YUP!!!

Thanks. That's absolutely right. I've recently booked an American Airlines flight in First even though it is just a 1h flight, because the price for Economy Class with the extra fees for checked luggage was actually exceeding the price for First Class.

Thanks for the video. For short hops like this I would choose Delta over American and certainly over United. Alaska would be a close second (if they fly the route). The benefit of flying First class really comes down to having the benefit of a larger seat and free checked luggage.

This vid is right on time for me. Currently looking at DL for JFK-MCO round trip because they offer non-stop flights. It’s 944 miles, so I guess regular catering would be served, but no lounge access with a 3 hr layover after a 14 hr trans-Atl flight makes it hard to justify the $1200 DL is charging.

I don't do a first class unless it's a long haul flight above 10 hours. Ill do premium select instead. The most that I will do is comfort on a domestic flight. Main is just fine for anything under 3 hours.

I’m so conflicted about spending the extra money on business class in this sense. If it were either an international flight or a flight more than 6 hours, I wouldn’t bay an eyelash. However, I went from BOS-SFO-AKL and back from SYD-SFO-BOS. All were in business class on United, except the SFO-BOS at the end was domestic first class. While I appreciated and loved the lie flat seats I got on Polaris, both times in the United business class lounge in SFO had next to no food and I had a lot better options in the restaurants in the terminal. I’m almost 6 foot 3 inches tall, so while I need and appreciate the extra legroom and/or the lie flat seat business class gives, I don’t feel as though I was treated any better than an economy class passenger. If I were leaving tomorrow morning for a trip, the biggest difference that I have now versus what I had in 2017 is that now I have a credit card that gives me more access to other lounges that I never would have had access to. When I tell you that the United Polaris lounge in SFO literally had nothing more than ham and cheese sandwiches that looked like they had been sitting there for 12 hours and nothing much else, as long as I had enough time in a connecting flight, why wouldn’t I get a fresher, restaurant quality meal at an actual restaurant if that’s all that an airport lounge has to offer ?

Better customer service, better on time, better reservation change policies, and generally a better crowd of passengers. Delta lost 16 billion during the pandemic. From 2020 until 2023. United lost 23, american lost 40 billion. For how bad you think they are, they are far from fallen.

The size of the seat is the main reason I fly first class and the airlines know it. It's not like I can purchase 2 seats in coach and know that I'll get to keep them. I don't want my body uncomfortably squished up against a stranger, anymore than they want me invading their seat because they oversold the plane.

My wife's best friend always purchases 2 seats in economy because she is very large and the seats are too small for her. If any of the economy seats are empty (not fully booked) when the flight departs she later receives a full refund for the 2nd seat.

I remember my American First Class flight from JFK to DCA. No Lounge, only Snacks. Compared to my Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to NUE (only 130 Miles) with catering, Lounge and Drinks in glasses American domestic Business Class is a joke…

i really like KLM regional biz class in Europe. The FAs are always so nice and friendly (homey friendly). The food isn't substantial on these routes but what we had last time was a cold mediterranean type meal box which was actually really really tasty! I've flown their long haul biz class (international) about 10 times and until my last flight (food was wretched on that flight) the flights prior to pandemic the food was very homey and tasted good (not gourmet in the least but a nice "home cooked" type flavor). The service has always been outstanding on long haul flights. Again, charismatic FAs who are very friendly. I have to say that Delta on long haul flights do an exceptional job for international Delta ONE service. It's heads above domestic first class service.

@@flightexperience_official Have you actually flown in economy? Major difference. Wider seat, much more leg room and recline, expedited check-in at the airport for First Class. Also, there is generally never a full meal service on shorter flights, regardless of cabin. That's basically common knowledge. Then again, none of this would have been a surprise to you if you had done your research prior to booking. Also, $250 is a hell of a deal for First Class. That's less than even an economy fare in most cases.

No, that's not true. E.g. in Europe when you travel on a 1h flight on Skyteam airlines you get proper food on board and lounge access. ​@@flightexperience_official I've flown KLM and Air France first in Europe and it was nothing special, a snack and a drink and a seat with the same width as what you showed here. I live in Saudi Arabia and I fly Saudia quite often. It's the same product as what you showed here with the DELTA flight. Only different is the seats are beige. You could fly private if you think you're important but you probably wouldn't be able to afford it.

Well Delta‘s Economy is good, considering the service and airport experience is exactly the same as in First Class as you don’t get lounge access, a different inflight entertainment and a proper catering in First Class. What‘s really annoying at Delta’s First Class product is that there‘s literally no difference in the inflight service and the airport experience (e.g. no lounge access for First Class Pax) than in Economy. Despite you really need a wider seats on a 2h flight there‘s literally no reason why you should book this instead of Economy.

I think it is even worse than Europe. You do not get lounge access as a paying First Class Pax, you get the same catering as In Economy (only snacks). In Europe you don‘t have the seats but overall more perks and a better flight experience. Thanks for watching!
