I was tapping my fingers on the side of my laptop to the beat of Floater - I got so into it during the climax, I hit the power button hard enough to turn my laptop off. 10/10 would over enthusiastically tap along again.

One of the best albums that I've heard in my life. Always has a special place in my heart. When I've listen Floater for the first time, I was in a bus trip, I fell asleep and having a trippy dream. When the song's cresendo part came in, it did wake me up and I was like... "Damn it's powerful" lol. It's still giving same chills to me when I listen it.

This is easily their best work so far. They've reached an incredible milestone in their history with this. It's actually insane how much better this thing works as an album compared to their earlier work. I hope this is the route they follow, because this is the kind of Math Rock that pushes the genre forward.
@HFTVChannel6 жыл бұрын
I would've actually straight up agree with you two weeks ago. This was the first album I listened to and while I didn't know how I felt about it on the first listen, the more i kept coming back to it , the better it became. In the meantime I had heard twin galaxies once and management once. After listening to twin galaxies a few more times, comparing it to this, it felt like twin galaxies was more experimental at first and ghost city was just their matured progress. But now that i've been listening to twin galaxies more I can't help but notice that its by far more distinct in it's sound in each song. I think this album is their best consistent one from track 01 to 11 but twin galaxies has more individual punch to it with each song. Either way i love both of those albums and I can't wait for what they have in store for the future.

This sound is just OK, imo. I get the fandom, though. Pretty cool band. To me, it sounds a lot like Minus the Bear meets CHON. I Mainly listen to prog metal, (Plini, AAL, Intervals, etc..) so i have a higher standard for the instrumental work in the songs i enjoy. As far as the vocal progression, I feel like the band is nothing special at all. I prefer DGD's style of creating vocal hooks. Fun listen, though. I might come back for another.
@GVilleAnarcho6 жыл бұрын
oh christ.... there's always at least one.
@Amadeahi6 жыл бұрын
Just putting my opinion out there. I dont think i sounded at all douchey. I've also only listened to this album once. Music is subjective and tastes evolve. I have listened to a whole lot of album streams in hopes of discovering gems. The main reason this band is just OK to me, is the fact that the vocals cover up the clearly more talented instrumental work. Maybe his tone and progression grow as you listen more, but for now I am not into the sound of the singer. He sounds underwhelming/typical.
@G3Dem6 жыл бұрын
This text is just OK, imo. I get the hate, though. Pretty bad comment. To me, it reads a lot like Kanye West meets James LaBrie. I mainly read dadaism, (HuBa, Kurt Schwitters, Emmynem Hennings, etc..) so I have a higher standard for the nonsense in the texts I enjoy. As far as the word progression, I feel like the commend is nothing special at all. I prefer Roger Ebert's style of creating critics. Fun reading, though. I might come back for another.
@Amadeahi6 жыл бұрын
This is actually very well done. Should i have said I have a higher standard for the technicality of instrumental work? Was that the part that didn't make sense?
@themiller33196 жыл бұрын
Technicality is meaningless on its own. It's why people are getting bored of Meshuggah despite their instrumentation being incredibly technical. This album works incredibly great as an album, and the songs work great as songs. Lyricism, harmonizations, melodic work. It's all really great.
