I think what works about LP3 than LP2 is that LP3 was trying to be _different._ LP2, despite having some decent moments, was more or less just trying to copy what made LP1 such a classic. LP3 on the other hand decided "let's capture the melancholy of LP1 but do a new spin to it. This was the result and it works so fucking well.
@cheap52official2 жыл бұрын
LP2 felt way more mature than LP1 imo, I dont think it was trying to be a carbon copy. It just had a kind of similar vibe. This one separates itself really nicely though while maintaining everything we liked about the previous ones :)
@florence_m_p2 жыл бұрын

@siddharths27122 жыл бұрын
LP2 was sonically and lyrically a huge departure from the first album. Even the themes of young summer love were replaced with difficult marriages and suicide. I don't know how you could possibly see a similarity there. Mike's vocal style is totally different, and that album has some of the most memorable guitar parts they've written. LP2 is underrated af.

a friend i used to play with as a kid but never had contact with since we were like 8 commited suicide within the past few weeks and this is.. a fitting soundtrack for wading through the sorrow, anger, confusion and painful what ifs. its a stab to the heart because ultimately it was the corrupt system of american society that failed him. and if i had had any contact with him i could have provided support..maybe even kept him breathing. its one thing to never see a childhood friend and reminisce on and laugh about your shared memories again but its another to know that theyre dead at the hands of society, and if only id known i KNOW i could have done something but i found out too late. its fucking heartbreaking because i didnt know him at all past the age of like 9 but still am devastated by his death, not only bc i used to know him but because its another life destroyed by the world we live in. a lifetime of potential and experiences to be had laughs and cries and smiles and all just snatched away bc of how society eats away at peoples souls corroding their hope and driving them mad. if they dont get shot or cut into pieces first. fucking brutal dude…
