No sport has changed as much as hockey has in the last 30-40 years. It's just absurd how bad goalies were back then. The absolute best goalie in the NHL in 1980 would let in 50 goals a game in 2021. Not even joking. 50.

if his positioning and recovery were better, he wouldn't have had to make those saves look so hard lol Carey Price is a good comparison. his positioning was so good he rarely had to flop around like that. too bad the team in front of him was never that great.

@@baragon4N20 i sort of agree with you but keep in mind the stick and skate technology now is way better than it was back then. although our players and goalies may be better, we have more advantages. we learned more, our goalies’ pads are bigger, we have became more advanced.. our sticks are lighter and we don’t use wood.. the list goes on

I remember seeing Tanner Glass do the same thing when he was on the Rangers,but I can't remember who the shooter was. I just remember that after the second shot,he went to block the lane again,and the shooter seemed to say "are you serious? you know that I'm still gonna do it again" and he did. I was impressed.

Not just the fact that they were 24-41-15 facing off against Gretzky’s 48-17-15 Oilers. But the fact that you put all that together and they won the series? That’s insane. You never see those comebacks in the playoffs and considering the circumstances it’s crazy. Such a great hockey story.

@@TIBS_x He's definitely in his prime now. Look at the age Gretzky, Ovi, Crosby etc were when they had their best season (at least offensively). These elite players don't need much time to learn the NHL game so they peak at around 22 when they are still at their fastest. Having said that I imagine McDavid will round out his game as he ages similar to what Crosby did

There are some amazing plays in here but McDavid's goal at 5:47 is far and away the most impressive. The sudden acceleration and the way he makes everyone else look like they aren't moving is amazing. Hamonic is a decent skater and McDavid just blew by him, it's unreal.

Lol. The rest of the league was 100 pts behind Gretzky. No one else has scored 200pts in a season. He averaged over 200pts a season for six straight seasons. No one else scored over 90 goals in a season, and no one's come close to scoring 50 in 39 games or getting a point if over 50 games straight. Gretz makes it look easy.
