I like to think that the inclusion of megalovania means that every other western has been canceled, and they think the fun gang is here to cancel their's too. They've changed so much of themselves to fit with the times and stay relevant, and freedom for them is to return to what they truly are: the gun-slingin' sheriff from the westerns of yesteryear.

Man this sounds so much like an actual secret boss I love it. I feel the story with his is how he wanted to be this really respected and loved Hero or Sheriff. He tries his best to thwart villains but kept failing. He thought that if he kept trying that it would give him a chance without changing anything. So he would do the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result. He became a laughing stock as people watched him fail, yet never improving. Until he got a message from Gaster. Gaster promised him power, skills, adoration. He promised results and they came to him. In his mind at least. Gaster changed his perception, now for every failure he saw a heroic moment to himself. While everyone laughed at him he was laughing with them When the Lightners came he saw more villains to thwart, cause he's the hero, he's the Great Sheriff, the final Judgement of right and wrong.

@@Holllows well, it could be some sort of failed nepotism pick, where he only got the role of sheriff after whomever the last one that gave it to him died. After that, similarly to how westerns have somewhat gotten pushed aside, everyone else simply developed a better law enforcement (more specifically whatever the ruler will be)

This UST slaps so hard. Megalovania motif fits in for a sheriff. His theme motif really gives off some nostalgia and guilt... Maybe the cartoon the sheriff was in was once Kris' favorite movie back in his childhood, and now, even Kris forgets the sheriff and his cartoon as a whole, which was the sole reason why the sheriff became who he is now... If he never forget him... The sheriff's own theme is a blast, like those old cowboy cartoon chasing sequence... Ah, the memory. Freedom motif... the western spin on it is really, really refreshing once in a while. Not to mention how it comes right after the His Theme + Megalovania motif, that really gives off other meaning to this song. "I once stood by justice, but now, I finally see that I'm free to do anything" type of meaning. And the last part, really gives off the usual trimphant feeling like the other secret bosses... before giving you a good ol' full screen attack, is like the cherry on top. ... *You deserve a subscribe. "So LoNg,... oLd PaRtNeRs." "Until we meet again..."

I’d imagine his boss Sould Gimmick would be the bravery sould (the orange one). I’d imagine that it’s reminiscent of how even sometimes when bombarded by a shower of bullets you’ll still have to get in the crossfire in order to make progress towards your foe. The sould would have a dash ability to bypass projectiles without taking damage. If you just take the bullet head on you’ll take damage but significantly less than if you were standing still. Plus the invisibility frames between each attack would be like half a second, to sorta mimic that walking into a barrage of bullets: you don’t have much time between shots hitting you
