Where it happens is in a closed space where no evidence can be found, the abuser couldn't have possibly done it because they'd have "no reason to" or are beloved by everyone and you had to have been dreaming or you have a vendetta against the abuser... Snowgrave is a realistic depiction of emotional abuse and that's a big part of what makes the route so disturbing.

this song is the perfect definition of post-traumatic stress, that's why the name of the song is called *Flashback*, Noelle was never the same after the Snowgrave Route, even though she believes it was all a "dream", she slowly Accept that everything was real, probably in the next chapters she could end up going crazy and who knows she ends up becoming a secret boss or a final boss.

I heard a theory somewhere that said maybe you’d *need* to do the weird route in all the chapters in order to be strong enough to actually beat the final boss. Having to willingly puppet other characters into doing so many horrible things all for the sake of getting stronger

@@frostypop934 I actually really like this theory (have held an extension of it as a core theory myself for a while), because it's making us think about games differently just like Undertale did. But it's not doing it in the same way. In games, you have to grind to defeat the final boss sometimes. that means making 'necessary sacrifices'. But when the player does it, it's framed as slaying the beasts or doing moral good whereas if a villain took that perspective it's framed as objectively evil. I personally believe something different will be the true answer to beating Deltarune though. There is an even more hidden branch to Snowgrave. One that involves aborting it before Berdly and keeping the Thorn Ring with Kris. Spamton gets very angry with you if you go through with misusing the Thorn Ring for Snowgrave. He says he gave it to you for a reason, and you went against his wishes. Noelle leaves, and you lose an ally in Berdly. You don't have access to the Thorn Ring at all in the regular neutral route though. To quote a line from the start of Undertale itself, "Only the fearless may proceed. Brave ones, foolish ones. Both walk not the middle road." Proceed is an important line here. In order to proceed, we don't walk a brave route (neutral) or a foolish one (Snowgrave). Will the darkners be there to help us at the end? I'm not so sure. I don't want to say they're expendable, but especially with Ralsei's pushing towards pacifist and building up the town it makes me think something's up with that. Not that he's evil, but that something is wrong with his information. Missing or omitted. Plus, in Snowgrave Noelle keeps the ring, not Kris. We have no guarantee we'll get it back, and the Twisted Sword requires a Thorn Ring in it's ingredients. It has a Trance effect that parallels the Thorn Ring itself, bringing Trance down instead of up. Spamton wants Kris to break free of their strings, I think. And maybe they need to do that in order to stop the Roaring. But that's just my guess.

Also, I think it has a wintery feel because of the high, simple notes of the music box which I tend to associate with snowflakes, the echo of an empty winter night, and the simplicity, the lonely feeling that brings.

i noticed a lot of things while listening to this - at 0:16 there’s a motif for ‘THE HOLY’ and the first buzz sound kind of sounds like the big shot attack when fighting neo - it sounds like someone’s saying cold (for the voice) - the little plinking sounds sound like an old music box, sort of resembling Noelle and Kris’s long and old friendship - gaster motif. - the voices sound like they’re calling for help but slowly growing weaker and more helpless because of the lowering notes

For some reason, a lot of the Snowgrave route doesn't get to me. I can handle watching a lot of it. Is it unsettling? Sure. But I can watch it and recall some of the things from memory without being super bothered by it. But this song, this damn song. This damn hospital scene. It gets to me, to the point where I was unable to remember how the song went because my mind repressed it. I only know it now since I decided to listen to it again, but my brain physically couldn't recall it. All I knew is that it made me afraid, and it still kind of does.

Something that’s really interesting to me about this song is that you can hear the melody from “THE HOLY” in the background, the song that played when Kris and Susie realize that they actually have a destiny and the power to either save or doom the world. They realize that while they’re having fun, what they’re doing is bigger than both of them and they control the fate of the world. The fact that the melody from that moment appears here it’s so unsettling and interesting, because to me it says that “Kris” recognizes their power and their role, and decided to use it to manipulate, hurt and destroy rather than help. It’s kind of like “Kris” and Susie switched their mindsets that they had in the beginning of the journey: Susie is now accepting her hero role and trying to help while “Kris” wants the opposite only for their own morbid interest. I love this game so much just for the fact that a simple melody can say so much about the characters and the story.

A song about the aftermath of the actions of someone who is known to search for secrets; who, under your guidance, has gone too far. A warning from the man himself. Perhaps, there is some hidden knowledge that would allow us to be even more destructive? I feel like this metaphorical music box is winding up for him to try and stop us before we can even reach the end. Toby Fox told us Deltarune had one ending, and I wouldn't say he's a liar. I think Gaster will cut it short. And Sans and Papyrus....They escaped from the Deltarune world. Now, why would they need to escape? What were they running from? Why was Sans so eager to kill humans before Toriel told him not to? Why is Papyrus in such harsh denial? (see King Papyrus ending) Oh..... Yeah..... I think Sans escaped us. He told us in the genocide run that he knows our type, the ones who investigate too much and do anything just because we can, or have to. Is he referring to the Weird Route's Player? After all, Sans in Deltarune implies that he can recognize SOULs even across time, before he'd even met Frisk in the Undertale world. Whatever Toby Fox ends up doing with this, I'm here for it. To have W.D Gaster completely shatter the fourth wall and reprimand us directly, consistently killing us over and over to make us feel powerless, as our victims did. And Noelle.... She's probably involved here too. The Twisted Sword requires a thorn ring. The Twisted Sword also reduces the "Trance" effect that makes Noelle our puppet. Finally, Susie. One of the Goners in Undertale talks about Suzy (in a positive light) and how your time to meet her is drawing near. The intro guy calls Susie a wonderful person, or something along those lines. This implies Goners and Gaster seem to view her as an ally. If she, and Ralsei, are told what you're doing, this could lead to a really tense battle in the Weird Route. Ralsei in specific probably has some kind of secret Gaster connections there too. But what I'm unsure about is the "Suzy is why you're here" implication. This doesn't seem to work with any theory, but maybe in this case it could relate to how her being part of Gaster's plan allowed for the machine to travel people between worlds? I'm not sure. Her battle theme is also pretty clearly cut off midway through. The loop isn't smooth in the slightest, and it's labelled excerpt, I believe. Also, King & Queen being told what you did and rebelling with their armies would be awesome too. Just saying. One last thing, I wonder how Asriel'll play into this. He's probably showing up sometime in Chapter 5-7, and I'm sure he will play a role in this. After all, his possessed sibling is killing people. I'm sure he'll ask Dr. Gaster for help with that.

Did you ever think about what would happen if you tried to force something meant to go one way, to go the other? It'd break and things would go wrong, right? That's exactly what happens in the alternate route. You take the linear ride by the steering wheel and jam it whole reverse, because you want to. The world bends to your own will, your own Determination, becuase you wish it so. And, as the result of breaking these rules, you face the consequences for those actions... don't you? Well, let's say you think you're above consequences. You could just load a different file and dodge the responsibility, right? Who's to say I can't do what I want in this world? The problem is, as per the limitations when signing up for the survey, you still need a vessel, a physical being to enact your will. What might happen if they, say, refused to cooperate? It would happen that said vessel is the only being in this world with the ability to see beyond the loose veil of linear time and space, after all. If they knew what you had done in advance, why wouldn't they stop you just in case you tried to do it again?
