Technically the NES hardware adds them together into a single combined waveform that your device's speaker vibrates into the air, but your brain is quite skilled at picking the separate sounds back out.

that's because you actually could play this on real nes hardware! (minus the slight stereo effect i added in post, of course) if you have the right kinda flashcart, you can put the .nsf file i linked in the description on it and play the song on a real nes

wellllll, putting it in an actual game is a whole other story. each nes game basically uses its own music engine, and unless you know how to write the music in that specific engine, custom music is pretty hard. there are very few games where you can just take something written in famitracker and throw it in without massively reworking the song.

@@neo_zoid it's all about finding the right note sequences! use the "fixed arpeggio" feature in the instrument editor. kick drum is just four fixed notes descending about half an octave apart each, snare drum is three notes closer together. after the fixed sequence the note you actually input in the tracker will play, so drum and bass is triggered with the same note input. you could try using the note cut effect for drums with no bass, or make entirely separate instruments using the instrument volume to cut it off after the drum notes. explore different sequences for noise channel too, don't just stick to a single note! my snare is a quick 7-8-9 arp with fairly slow decay, and i also have a subtle little "tap" accompanying each kick too. crash cymbals need a "snap" at the start, low noise immediately jumping to high. just explore different stuff! the noise channel is very useful hope all this helps a little!
