I mean, if you think about it, in Chapter 1, King did bluff about Lancer being dropped from the Card Castle roof and becoming a Lancer pancake. He still cares for his son. Lancer always bounces, and King wouldn't change that for the dark world. He does explain that his bluff was too effective in Chapter 2, as he didn't really expect to see them believe it, and without explanation, he actually felt like he was in full control of the party. Knowing fathers, they would never hurt their children, but King however, this bluff of his made the trust between Lancer and him break a bit, and made Lancer make Rouxls Kaard his lesser dad, but King still cares a lot about Lancer, even if he doesn't mean anything in his threats. And thanks to Chapter 2, we have Lancer back, King back, Rouxls, and with the new Queen, the family is there, and Queen is Lancer's girldad, aka mom. And King's relationship with Queen is there at the end of Chapter 2, Queen cares for King, and messes with him as well, but that leaves King and Queen back together in the small Castle Town to care for Lancer. This really says a lot about King's relationships in the Dark World.
