I'm sure SOMEONE my age (late Gen Z) has drank out of a garden hose at some point, so I wouldn't even call _that_ a Gen X thing. Same as when I'd use the "flat" option on my own garden hose, stand under it, and make a forcefield out of water around myself; I'm sure I'm not the only one to ever do that.

Ok so the issue with "turning a desert green" is that the amount of water required to keep the golf course green involves either diverting limited water resource from major waterways (go look up the ENTIRE rivers that are disappearing in the U.S. because of irrigation) or drawing that water out of deep underground reservoirs which take millions of years to fill but only decades to empty. All so that some rich people can whack a ball around while pretending they're not in a desert.
