Deltarune: Nostalgia Nightmare Ep. 1 - Pilot (Chapter 3 AU)

And it's DONE! After 11 months of work, the mockup for the introductory minutes of my writing-exercise-turned-AU is COMPLETE.
This is far from the only look you're going to get into this little fake chapter, but it IS going to be the longest, as if I continued with videos as large as this, the full version of deltarune would be out before I finished. Most of the story and plot points will also be established through UST uploads as well. Since it takes much less effort to put those together.

yo this is amazing! i absolutely love this interpretation of mike, the whole scenario and writing felt really on point with what its like in the game, the music was great, the spritework and animation was brilliant, and omg everything about this is so perfect. things like mike throwing ralsei like a bowling ball, and just casually sliding over him with that explosion gif feel like jokes straight out of the game, this whole thing just screams toby fox's style and omg this is so amazing great job

When I saw your take on Mike a few months ago, I never imagined you'd make something like this. (So that's why your Mike theme had BETA in the title...) Having the vessel play a part already makes this stand out from many other fan interpretations. Liking the character designs so far as well. Overall, good going on this and take as much time as you need for the next part.

I don't plan on changing Mike's name, but there's a certain character that's appeared here that actually IS meant to be Tenna. They don't say their name out loud here, but they do show up. They'll get a slightly more official introduction in the next part.

this is probably the best mike take i have ever seen! the earliest i have ever seen the vessel was ch5 takes,but seeing it in ch3 and the player being treated as an antagonist while not being the usual "final battle fun gang vs player" theme going is pretty unique. overall,i am very hyped for the next part. you earned a sub!

Is kinda scary to see all these concepts, but i still love them Let me explain: While i trust toby and what he'll make for the upcoming chapters, I'm actually a bit affraid that this "Mike" character might not be what we expect, if he turns out to even exist in chapter three. Or like, the really unlikely scenario of someone actually getting toby's idea for chapter 3 totally right I don't want these to stop though, i love what small teams can do, is just... a bit scary at times Anyways, with all that said, i love this concept!

(Though, I should clarify something, they don't think the player IS the knight, they think that the player was sent to terrorize the dark world BY the knight. I do admit that the wording is a bit confusing, and I prolly could've been more clear on it.)

Those two are going to seriously hurt the Player if they don't have anything to protect themself. ( I am curious about the sparechange item. )

I like how it is [Empty] again because the vessel had no save file. While Kris used to have one but the player overwrote it.

Normally, the save file would revert back to Kris' at the start of a chapter. But since you're not in Kris' body, it's an empty file.

More or less, yeah. When I'd first come up with the idea for this chapter, I'd assumed Kris didn't put the soul back because the animation that shows it is at the last second of the ending, and mostly covered by smoke. But the idea stuck with me, and it felt like the only way to make Mike an ally who'd betray the team, while also making him an actual antagonist.

It clearly shows, that was some Toby level humor & animation, though painfully reliant on all of the "Mike" stuff people bought into... I've been trying to tell them not to get their [087 HOPES AND DREAMS] up, but look at who was right all along. Though, at least YOU had the saving grace to make this an AU instead of "Chapter 3 leak!!!(insert funny SFX)"

The green room, weather people, and shadowmen aren't canon to this version of Chapter 3. There will rough equivalents, but they'll be wildly different. Only thing being directly taken from the sweepstakes info is the mention of Tenna, who will get a proper introduction in the next installment. As for the sweepstakes lore itself, I think its great. I absolutely adore the custom home-made online blog type stuff going on with Noelle's lore, and I'm intrigued now more than ever in the mystery of Dess.
