I would be interested in learning more about the pulley system you used to upright the tower. Looks amazing, job well done.

Both of the lifts were completed by attaching 2 corners of the stand platform that were on the ground to a rope that went up through a pulley which was mounted high in a tree that was fairly close to the far side of the stand. The end of the rope was then extended well to the near side of the stand and attached to the winch on an UTV for the controlled lifting power. Also, for both lifts, 2 corners near the bottom of the structure were attached to a rope which went up to another pulley in the same tree, just under where the lifting rope was attached. This second rope continued to and was looped around another tree not far from the UTV and was manned by my grandsons. For both lifts, the purpose of this second rope is to ease the structure to the ground after it passes it's tipping point. Make sure you have enough manpower on this second rope as quite a bit of force is required for a structure this large. Also, make sure the guys on this rope begin applying pressure before the tipping point is reached, because if a tipped stand is allowed to pick-up speed, it is hard to stop. And finally, make sure everyone is far enough away from the structure so that if anything goes wrong, nobody gets hurt. This was the second deer stand structure that I erected this way, and it works quite well. Good luck with your build.

Great team work, Charles and a really nice tree stand. The grandson work crew did a fine job under your supervision. Hope you had a chance to hunt from the stand and take a few nice deer. I'm going to eventually get a stand up on the land but have been busy with other chores and don't have the crew to help me set it up. Thanks for your fine video and tell your grandson, I voted for Trump and will be voting for him again in 2020. I gave your video a thumbs up. 👍

Do you think it was worth using a beefy 4X6 post was worth it Vs a 4x4 posts?
@charlesbarrett
@charlesbarrett 3 жыл бұрын
The legs are 16 feet long, and although 4 x 4's would no doubt work, considering the number of knots, etc. in lumber these days, I just felt like the 4 x 6's gave me the safety factor I wanted for stand use by my family and friends.

How deep did you set the posts in the ground? How many Sakrete bags per hole?
@charlesbarrett
@charlesbarrett 3 жыл бұрын
The legs only extend to ground level where they sit on top of 12" in diameter concrete piers that are about 2.5' long to be safely below the frost level. The legs are attached to the concrete piers by screwing long a 0.5" in diameter hot dipped galvanized lag bolts into a pre-drilled hole in each of the legs and these bolts extended into the concrete when we poured the piers. In a stand this tall it is obviously important that the legs are spread to provide a large base at ground level so that a huge amount of tie-down weight is not necessary to prevent the stand from blowing over in the wind.
