Have an Audi TT Mk2 with this gearbox. Have a notchy second gear only (When going up gears and not down, its random and not speed dependant. Also with the clutch held in and I go from 1st to neutral and then into 2nd its fine). I have replaced the gear end linkages. Have adjusted them multiple times and found that it does improve my gear change from 1st to 2nd. The car has done 74k miles and is the 2.0 TDI model. It is a weird feeling like the gearstick should really be like going along a straight edge when changing gear. Instead it is like it is going over a bump of resistance as you pull the stick towards you just before it goes into second gear. Could this notchy feeling issue be due to worn parts as per your video. Can't find anybody explaining the symptoms when these items are all worn.

Great video, this repair kit is the same for the vw jetta 2019?, thanks a lot

Similar idea, but Jetta 2019 is a MK7. It uses a different cabin shifter. dieselgeek.com/collections/vw-shifter-bushings/shifter-bushings_jetta-2019-2024

Does anyone know a part number for those retaining clips for the center console? Whoever owned or took my car apart last didn't put a few of them back

What size is the snap ring? Mine did its job and snapped off the pliers, then went Mach 1 into the seat rails somewhere.

14mm. 9/16" works

Is it possible to replace the ball socket (the white piece) with little disassembly of other components?
@dieselgeekdotcom3 ай бұрын
Yes, but it's better to just shim it.

Hello, i just need the spring replaced, is the drilling part necessary?
@dieselgeekdotcom2 ай бұрын
Yes that's all an assembly. I can't say I've seen the spring fail before though. If the stick is not returning to center I bet there is a seized bell crank transmission end of the linkage.

is this possible in a day? i kinda need my car to run the next day and im scared to tackle this.

No. There are two separate gluing operations that need you set up overnight

If you try to rush through it, you're gonna have a bad time

Trying to find info on the reverse lockout mechanism for this shifter. I can go into reverse without pushing down so its easy to mistakenly enter 1st/reverse gears. Is this solved by taking out slop or is there a physical reverse lockout bushing/bracket part that I need to confirm is not damaged?
@dieselgeekdotcom6 ай бұрын
Lack of reverse lockout is usually a maladjusted side to side cable or bushing slop precluding a good adjustment.

I have the same issue. The gear selection is fine but I no longer require to press down and select reverse. I saw from previous models there is a plastic plate that can break which I don't see in your video..... I see many videos about bushing replacement but not the lockout plate

just had my "Deluxe Shifter Bushing kit for 2008+ MK5 and Mk6 vehicles" arrive for my 2010 mk6 gti. I'm putting together a list of parts/tools I will need before getting started - from watching your video I have so far: JB weld 2 part epoxy 8mm (5/16") drill bit 28.575mm (1 1/8") hole saw 2.38125mm (3/32") drill bit sandpaper for super pin card stock Am I missing anything?

Dental picks and necessary tools for console removal. We have a video on that.

After the install my shifter won’t return to center it needs a little push and no reverse does any body have an idea why?
@dieselgeekdotcom Жыл бұрын
Usually slightly misadjusted Super Pin end float causing some sticking in the forward pivot, less commonly slightly smaller than nominal stamped hole in the bell crank. For the former reset SP end float, for the latter some light sanding on the FGG will alleviate side to side drag.
@dieselgeekdotcom Жыл бұрын
As for reverse, perform a shifter alignment.

i ended up pulling on the cables pretty firmly and it made everything work smoothly, i guess the cables where just binding somehow.
