19:00 This right here is why we totally deserve the betrayal in Trespasser, should we leave the Chargers to die. We ourselves made Bull believe that duty came first... We only forget that his duty has always been to the Qun first, not the Inquisition.

My guess is that he probably went back and got re-edjucated again because he felt he needed it. He said nothing personal and Cole confirms that for Bull he didn't really care about you or anyone else anymore. It's only a job to him once again,
@bradtorville5526 Жыл бұрын
But the truth is Bull would also betray you if you don't do the quest at all. What does that say about his loyalty? The Chargers are alive and well but the proposed alliance with the Qun is never made and that will also lead to Bull turning on you in Trespasser. The truth is he probably would have turned on you at some point regardless of the Chargers.

I couldn't just let the Chargers die for an alliance. Bull was truly himself when he lived outside of the Qun, away from the lies and all the things it was demanded of him to do and for what? To please three people? Outside of the Qun, Bull had a real life and people that were more family and comrades to him than anyone in the Qun ever was. Bull may act stoic, he may be though on the outside and behaves like its all nothing, but deep down he was terribly hurt. He's a good man, so screw the Qun and their alliance.

No one has so precisely summarized my feelings on this matter then this. I don’t trust the Qunari MUCH less there oppressive “religion” or whatever the Qun is. Also it’s fat more logical the go with the Chargers in my opinion.
@ЯАга-я4л3 жыл бұрын
How good was his "self" though? He is a pretty violent guy, always up for a kill. He's good for the war time, but how good would he do in the time of peace I wonder. The way story goes, it is actually a better choice to make Bull quit the Qun, but it could have had more complicated consequences then "betrayal submission bad - loyalty freedom good".

It turns out even worse in large scale of things: Tresspasser epilogue makes clear that thanks to word of Bull's betrayal spreading, Qunari and Viddathari who try to leave the Qun now get suspected being double-agents and face even harsher discrimination and suspicion they had before.

My 1st playthrough i sacrificed the chargers. Didn't care to get to know them. Seem like something they'd do. Anyways 2nd playthrough got to know them and realized how the chargers defined bull as a person and not a slave to the qun. Bull was always teeter tottering between the qun and individuality. Knowing that. I always chose to save The chargers because you truly save bull. All before trespasser dlc. Later then the trespasser dlc proves it.

My friend sacrificed the Chargers in her playthrough. The Iron Bull turning against her in Trespasser made a lot of sense. He was Qunari to the core, but his attachment to the Chargers made showed him life outside the Qun. Letting the Chargers die, The Iron Bull went back to the one thing he still had, the Qun.

I don’t THINK I commented before but if I said this here already I apologize. That said- thank you for posting this! It’s great to have a full look at dialogue options. Especially because when I played this, for the dramatic cutscene gaat was bugged and just... wasn’t there. No model, no dialogue, no subtitles. Lots of camera cutting to emptiness for a few seconds and bull talking to himself. It was... amazing, but bad for immersion and for getting a full picture lmao

The more important question for me is what do you gain when sacrificing the chargers? Does it make any difference story-wise that is an ACTUAL advantage? Example in DA:O, choosing Witherfang will end with werewolves fighting with you during the battle in Denerim. That kind of question is what I'd like answered: what's the actual gain? And I'm not talking about reputation points because of missions that may open up since there's so many other ways to earn reputation, or rare weapons that I can just as easily replace with a well-crafted one with Dagna and Harrit.

@@Rinaldimanc just influence points? Ugh... Thank you for answering though. Kinda weak to give us a moral quandary where nothing is really at stake so making the decision we actually want is easy. Unlike DA:O where it was chock-full of decisions that will really split you up whether morally, story-wise, or just the enormous advantage you will lose/gain by the end.

Okay as sad as it is, I sacrificed the Chargers, why? Because this is LITERALLY the first ever alliance the Qunari has ever offered to someone, I sure as sh*t weren't going to f**k that up soooooooo, I let the chargers die and in return I got Bomb throwing Ships, honestly not a bad deal in it self
@liamclarke919 жыл бұрын
Wait. I just realized the mission succeeds no matter what you choose (the smuggling ship gets taken out). Why do they consider Bull a traitor just because one ship couldn't escape fast enough?
@alexraffeo36299 жыл бұрын
liamclarke91 Because his actions cost a dreadnaught and it's crew. Bull (in the eyes of the Qun) chose his people over the Qun. For the Inquisitor the most the Qunari can do is rescind the offer of alliance. For Bull, they basically excommunicate him.
@liamclarke919 жыл бұрын
True. It could also just be the Qunari looking for an excuse to not work with foreigners.
@evasmiljanic35298 жыл бұрын
+liamclarke91 Basically the Qunari were testing Bull to see if he was still loyal after so many years.
@bradtorville55266 жыл бұрын
I think it's simpler than anything anyone else has mentioned here. It's that Iron Bull chose to follow the Inquisition and the Inquisitor's order rather than the Qun's. They already distrusted him for being upfront and honest with the Inquisitor. Choosing to side with him and saving his men over following their orders and doing whatever it took to save the dreadnaught, that was the final straw. They no longer could trust him since they no longer could control him.
@OnyxOfTheEarth9 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the choice to save or sacrifice the Chargers is fucking stupid. They coud've thrown in a third option to save BOTH the chargers and the Qunari dreadnought. I don't care if you had to go through some overly-complicated sidequest to do so. But oh wait, we can't have that because "every one of your decisions need to have consequences." Ugh...

Here's my problem with this entire scenario. If you accept the quest and the alliance with the Qun, you're nuts because in the end, just what would that mean for the rest of Thedas? But that aside for the moment, here's my real issue with this thing. If you do it and let the Chargers be sacrificed, there's the argument for why The Iron Bull will turn on you in Trespasser. Problem with that is Cole. He states that he felt nothing from Bull -- no conflict, no pain, no indecision. At another point in the game, Cole says that Bull doesn't even see his enemies as living beings, just objects that need to be terminated and removed from his path. So, when he turns, he's feeling nothing about the people he's served with and supposedly been friends with for years. But suddenly when you choose to save the Chargers, he remains loyal to the Inquisition and turns his back on the Qun when called to attack them. Not buying it. Second, if you choose to avoid his personal quest altogether, this shouldn't affect Bull at all since the Chargers are still very much alive, an alliance was never agreed to or made with the Qun and, here's the big point -- the Viddasala in Trespasser was a rogue element that was not officially sanctioned by the Qun to attack anyone, let alone trigger Bull to betray and attack his friends in the Inquisition -- but that's exactly what happens which makes absolutely no sense. Bull will turn up to betray you in Trespasser even if you don't take him with you to the Darvaarad, saying "it's nothing personal". That last point bothers me most since Bull doesn't see his enemies as living beings and certainly not his friends enough to turn on them. If nothing means anything to him, how much is his loyalty worth then? If he supports you for three years, what was that? All an act? Yes, Hissrad was his title but it would seem the Re-educators really were efficient if it could also mean that Bull could pull off not only three years of fake friendship and loyalty but even three years of a romance with Dorian, just waiting for a "please" from the Viddasala to throw all of that away. To me, that sort of loyalty is meaningless and even saving the Chargers wouldn't, shouldn't have mattered in the least to him. That's why I stopped recruiting him in my playthroughs. I don't want to have to deal with someone who might betray me at the drop of a hat.
