Star forward DeMar DeRozan won't return to the Bulls as he continues to browse his options in free agency, Sun-Times reporter Joe Cowley told the Bernstein & Holmes Show. Meanwhile, the Bulls continue to be stuck in a holding pattern as they look to trade disgruntled guard Zach LaVine.

Even if they cut him he’s still going to get paid in be on the payroll.. You can’t just cut someone whose on a contract because you want too lmao

Not a Cowley fan but appreciate his blunt honesty. I agree that Lavine’s BBIQ is so low that he doesn’t bring the best out of his teammates. Having Ball as PG with Lavine on the court was a major positive for the Bulls. Unfortunately, Lavine without a high IQ PG is bad for the Bulls.

I feel like Jalen Smiths' contract is more fitting for PWill. 5 yrs 90 mil, seems like another LaVine deal.

With where the cap is estimated to go, he is likely to be around 10% of the cap. If it is a flat deal over five years, the first two years might be a bit higher. It is slightly higher than a MLE, but with an additional year. It is far from another LaVine deal. LaVine has $43M, $46M, and $49M coming. It is max money for a non-max guy.

You clear don’t understand how the cap works. He was making 9mil on his rookie contact. In 2-3 seasons, his contract will be considered a steal.

I’m fine with Zach being traded but packaging him with valuable assets to do so instead of just keeping him another half year to get his value up and then trade seems pretty dumb.

The whole point of this segment is that they overspent for Zach Lavine and now they're stuck with the contract, because he probably didn't deserve a max deal. They're also almost $68M over the cap.
