For weeks we've been hearing that the Sacramento Kings were poised to make an acquisition, and on Saturday they added DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls in a three team trade involving the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan joins De'Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Malik Monk on a Kings team trying to get back to the playoffs after another year on the outside looking in. With great teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and others in their path, the Kings got better but there may be more to do. As a kings fan I do like this move, we’re paying him less than 30 million a year, didn’t have to give up much and although the fit is questionable, he’s undeniably better than anyone on the team outside fox n sabonis, we got better and that’s all I can ask for.

At the bare minimum it’s a decent upgrade but this is more on solid, above average acquisition. It’s great to see the Kings good again and although last season was a bit down this team is showing more and more that they’re on the rise. The already bright future is looking even better.

Kings fan. Frm 916. This was a great move, rather trade for Laurie markkenan who woulda gutted our core. Kings needed a vet and a closer and Barnes fell short many times. Kings don’t need more 3 point shooters, I’ll take a guy who attacks, gets to the line and mid range killer. Defense needs to be focused on next. But I’ve been saying huerter n Barnes were the weak links n the starting lineup. Staring Ellis over huerter is a plus Kuz teams went right at him n force the kings defense scheme to collapse! Start the game with defense like Ellis at the 2. But close the game with monk at the 2, that way it’s fox monk demar Murray n sabonis or Trey lyes. Just depends on if you need offense or defense. Nobody on the kings roster is a lock down defender, but with added size ie #13 pick carter and Ellis. Demar replacing Barnes, Murray and sabonis. Teams won’t have as many lay up lines as they did before when huerter and Barnes were n the lineup. Demar is will that VET and help the kings close out 4th quarter close games. And last thing they still have Kevin huerter, I say move him to the bench… and by the trade deadline, use him to make a trade to get a rim protector or depth on the bench. That way you know what you need to make a playoff push! Kings are in a good spot, a core that has Fox monk Murray and sabonis. Just added Demar, if they focus on defense… a couple pieces and some experience. They gona be trouble 💥🔥🤞🏾

As a kings fan I like the realism here. I've seen how Monte operates and I think there's a possibility this is the only move and he waits till the trade deadline, gets an idea of what it looks like with Derozan and then plugs the hole. Monte is a very patient and calculated man, I trust him and regardless of what happens I think he will figure out the piece we need and get him. I also like this derozan signing because its a plus to offense while giving time plus a vet for other players to develop next to like Keon, Keegan and Carter. Great vid

I have to give the Kings and their ownership props after decades seems they finally got the right front office in charge. The Kings made a lot of good moves this offseason including getting one of my fav players 13th in Devin Carter. With Derozan they add another lethal scorer they just need wing defenders and they should be a title contender. Sabonis is mad underrated if you looked at his stats he was extremely dominant offensively. Bulls suck ass they have incompetent management and an ownership that just cares about the money.

Sabonis might be great offensively, with his passing and game around the basket, but he isn't great defensively. The Kings still rely pretty much on outscoring the opposition, which doesn't work well against teams that have good defense, length and youth like the Pelicans or the Magic. They can outrun some old teams like the Lakers easily, but now that they have DeRozan, they have another weapon to use in both situations. I would have loved to see KCP on this team, that might really put it over the top, as having KCP doesn't really lose you anything offensively but also adds a lot of defense which they realy lack. Fox is good defensively, but he is usually overtaxed as it is.

I think this could definitely help us get back to that top 4 seed and maybe with a bit of luck and another signing or two push us into that contender category.

DeRozan is an upgrade over Harrison Barnes. However, he doesn't play much defense and he tends to be ball dominant. As a Bulls fan, I thought they made a mistake in signing him.

As a kings fan, I love this deal. While it may not be the best fit for our current squad I can feel a good acquisition coming again this offseason. I was at golden one center today when the deal was made final, all of us were celebrating, especially when the Gm and DeMar wallows in. It was an incredible experience and I hope it goes well. This team had better the crap out of me because they haven’t been good since I started watching basketball when I was like 10. This is a good trade and I hope Fox can get back to himself and we will back where we should be. I love ur videos btw 😊

I started watching basketball when I was 8 but I do remember the tail end of when the Kings were a consistently good team. For their standards this is a big splash move but it’s not over the top either, it’s a solid upgrade. As a Lakers fan they need to be building their team more like the Kings, rounding out their roster all around instead of constantly going for big splash moves.

I'm happy that DeMar gets another shot at showing how good he is. The Bulls were a mess, but that is mainly due to their horrible front office not being able to scrounge together a team that worked. I don't think DeRozan was anything but great in his time there, much better than people expected from him.

They should try and move Huerter and a pick or swap of some sort for Rob Williams I know it hurts spacing some but buy low on him right now and he can help add defense. That way Keon can play the 2 and make room for Devin Carter and you have one of the best defensive 2nd lines in the league

I think the kings are honestly a dark horse to make the WCF. They’re really my favorites. I think they’re gonna surprise people and blow through some good teams. This is not bad at all. DeRozan might be a bit of an older player with a bit of an older style of playing with his midrange game, but he still is probably one of the best clutch players in the league. Someone you can trust to bring offense when the quick pace and space play bogs down in the playoffs. He is a good playmaker, which the team needs more of too and not bad at other things. He can still hit open threes well enough and has enough defensive value to not bring down the kings defense any more than it already is. If they can also add Jeremi Grant as mentioned in the video, this team can just get a whole lot better. The core of the team was already pretty good, but they needed more around the edges and having a top player on the roster now makes them so much harder to stop. The only thing I still think needs more attention is their defense. Basically they have Keegan Murray and De'Aaron Fox as good defenders, but not much else. Barnes was fine, but he is now gone. Not many great needle movers left after that, they all are mostly good offensive players.

The CBA commands you handle your payroll. De'Rozan is a walking bucket and free throw maker. They lost more games last year due to being last in the league in free throws. They now just need a power forward 3 and D shot blocker. They spent the right amount of money on 2 upgrades. Resigning Malik and this free agency signing of De'Mar is great! No way to the Portland trade. De'Mar is going to bring out the best in De'Aaron. This is a huge contract yr for Foxy. This lineup is now extremely multi-dimensional. It is going to be able to overcome first and foremost injuries, style of play and finally being able to closeout games!!! De'Mar does not like to miss games he is an iron man , even at his age of 34! He minds me of a poor mans Michael Jordan or liken him to back in the days Mitch Ritchmond. Fox will miss games. We will now still be able to compete. De'Mar Derozan is an Alpha Dog!
