@@listenup7284 he wasn't training full time. He was working construction and training two times a week at the time. His head coach convinced him to stop working and focus on mma.

@@joby2174 Essentially DJ was too fucking good so the UFC said they couldn't promote him because he was so dominant it made fights uninteresting. Also that was on top of him being a nice dude who doesn't talk trash, which rarely makes you rich.

I think letting go of ALL of that pressure is a good thing. Often times overthinking/overstressing is a very costly burden. Of course training and staying in shape is part of the job but min/maxing the literal life out of life is exhausting and I think after a point you really are just better off taking a step back and reassessing things. Always wish DJ the best. Man is a legend and a truly great representative of the sport in every way.

My sister passed 2 years ago, we were the closest of 4 siblings, our parents weren't there growing up and our 2 older siblings weren't really around so it was just us growing up. I still can't believe she's gone, I'm still struggling to live through this.

DJ is one of my all-time favorite fighters - not just for his accomplishments and entertaining fights, but also as a person. He's always been cool, casual, doesn't use sh%t-talking and trolling or WWE antics, doesn't bad mouth families and people, very articulate and highly intelligent. I like guys like Chael, Colby, the Diaz Brothers, etc. too, but it doesn't mean that I can't like something different than that. I'm happy for him that he's continuing to have success in MMA and life.

The greatest might mouse move I've ever seen him do was that rotating door slip he did when joseph benevidez (sorry if i misspelled his name). Its like he saw the punch coming and just turned sideways, the punch missed and he immediately threw a jab in return. It was great, joe during the match refered to it as a rotating door lol
