Though Garry has a size advantage over DJ, it seemed to me that he was really able to not lean on it (or even utilize it), and just focus on technique. It takes a ton of talent and focus to not lean on size (or strength) advantage as you get tired, or just as the roll progresses in general. Very high level stuff from both!

The wrestling was probably my favorite part of this roll. That was some beautiful wrestling, especially Tonon’s counter to the body lock attempt by controlling that wrist, switching to an overhook, then circling out.

I would love a commentary/narration of these roles. I love to see roles like this where so much is happening and I'd like to know what's going on in your mind. Tonon is clearly not hunting for submission, just flowing through positions. This is refreshing and would love it if more people could train like this.

This grappling is both High Level & Educational all at the same time. Watching this lets you see the True Beauty of Martial Arts when two masters can respectfully spar and compete against each other and learn from one another. There's more technique in this Roll then in most Submission Grappling and Jim Jitsu tournaments. Just watching both guys ability to transition from one thing to the next is a thing of beauty.
