I love how Demi lights up when she talks about God and her religion. She seems genuinely excited and happy in those moments. She’s such a role model. That is what life and having a relationship with God is about. Not being perfect and not seeing ourselves as beautiful or important. But taking it day by day and learning that God loves is no matter what we go through. I just love her honesty.

Isn't it sad, but I feel part of that is our own fault trying to look a certain way to please the men. WHY? I still don't get it. We put that pressure on ourselves, and we need to put a STOP to that. Let's feel free and accept the way we are whether we are 105 pounds or 200 pounds. Let's us do what we want, and look like we want, with no the fear of looking a certain way for them. Lets start today. WHO cares lets go out and eat a burger.....lol

Mary Peralta it’s trying to out do other women as well, we as women are always trying to look better than the other instead of embracing each other for who we are as individual women with our own inner beauty and strengths. It’s time to stop the outer layer of competitiveness and be there for each other to make sure we are living our best selves in a healthy and supportive way at any size, age, color..... That includes raising our boys to respect women for their character and not what they see on the outside.

I’m having this struggle with my daughter at the moment. It’s difficult to watch someone you love so much & see so much potential in hate themself to the point of tears.

MrsBungle78 This is how I was as a younger girl/woman. Everybody saw a Southern California Barbie doll and I just wanted to know I was good enough and that I was doing enough to be lovable. You have such power to hold a space for your daughter. Hold your ground and keep pouring words of love and truth over her in only the way you can as her mother. She will eventually see herself through your eyes.

I think until she confronts the deep pain in her soul, she will continue to be addicted to something the rest of her life (whatever that next addiction is). It's sad, but I think her tough childhood is going to stick with her the rest of her life; she's always going to have to battle to find peace and contentment. You can tell she always feels so lost and desperate to be happy. I hope she eventually finds peace, in her body and mind.

@@Tmcsinger91 Is it though? I mean, she was recovering from an eating disorder with extreme diets and exercise...? That's the reverse of what most recovery plans for EDs look like. And when she explains how she talks to herself in the mirror around 20:00 she uses the word "you" rather than "I" (eg. "You are healthy" vs. "I am healthy") which is crucial in recovery because when you're in it...your body is kind of an "other" vs. when you're a healthy person or a recovering person your body is being put back as a "me." Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for her and anyone else that is struggling with anything, but searching for self in Israel and having feelings about being better after being there...it's not how your find yourself - everyone who lives or visits there has those feelings. She seems to be distracting herself rather than focusing on herself. She puts her power into speaking out for others or to experiences rather than sitting with herself in her home comfort zone. You find yourself when you are at home home, not when you are seeking a home.

@Anne Day As someone with a ton of "mild" forms of various issues (depression, body image issues, low self esteem, etc.) who hasn't sought out professional help (yet...), I can definitely see that while she's aware of her issues and are acknowledging them (important first steps), she's definitely a long, long, long way from recovery. As much as I love her music and persona, she needs to step away from this industry (for more than just a year or so, maybe even forever) and just figure herself out. I'm several years older than her and only after losing an important job last year (due to company restructuring but it left me devastated and questioning my self worth like I've never done before). I'm only now finally figuring out the shit I need to do to improve my mental well being. And I finally realized all the problems I've encountered in my adult life are a result of my many unresolved "mild" issues. I've definitely grown and improved in certain areas, which took years of self reflection and self work to figure out, but I'll bet I could've gotten to this point a lot sooner if I just weren't in denial about it all and sought out professional help. But, you know what? There's a time and place for everything and hopefully she'll be ready to do the internal work that needs to be done to be truly happy and healthy.

But I imagine her team has to dance around her: will she be in a good mood? Will she snap? Will she stick to the schedule? Like they don't know what to expect working with her because she varies so much day to day and is incosistent. I can't imagine having to work with a "boss" like her. It must be exhausting and hard for everyone, including her. I hope she eventually finds the peace she's looking for.

I wanna talk about what demi said - " You're healthy and I accept you". 2020 has been terrible for me in terms of health, both mental and physical I've had to fight w depression and corona virus. Now that I'm better, I've started being happy without any materialistic reason of being happy. I'm happy BECAUSE I'm healthy. That's it. And that's more than enough. That's why I love this line because it puts in words exactly what I've been feeling.

Every question was extremely deliberate with so much thought and reasoning behind it. And I'm sure she spent so long preparing for the interview and had lists of questions but it felt easy, natural, and on the fly. She was present in the conversation and helped it flow but the attention was never on her. Her tone was polite and professional but still felt genuine and caring. So beautiful, you deserve all the props. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Until your mind and your body are on the same page, it will always be like that. It's part of growing up...for a long time we want to be everything we aren't which is what drives us to do things but eventually, with growing, our mind and our body meet and we finally recognize ourselves and see ourselves in others rather than seeing the differences between ourselves and others. I know this sounds super weird but it literally just one day happens in your late 20s...I didn't even realize it until I was at an airport last month and saw how many people had the same physical "flaws" I had been killing myself over for years and I recognized that it turns out my ankles are normal, my knees are normal. 60% of the women I saw had similar ankles and knees. Things I've been self-conscious about for years.

wow. this is the second time i have watched Demi speaking for over 40 minutes straight (the first time was the stay strong documentary), and everything that she says is so authentic. i love how open she is about her body positivity, and that she is no longer ashamed of herself. so beautiful :) good job ashley i really enjoy this show

This was so helpful to me. I’ve been feeling embarrassed about the weight I’ve gained the past year. I FEEL better though. I’m proud that I can eat now. I don’t want to live the life I was when I was smaller. This interview helped me realize that.

Demi you are such a role model and inspiration in my life. When you said the quote "Power through it" I've never realized how triggering that is for me until now. I deal with many mental health issues and being on the spectrum and having adhd everyone has always told me to be strong, positive; and to always power through no matter what the circumstances. Also interestingly enough my therapist that I have now almost every single session says to be gentle with yourself. And a part of me was like what in the world does that mean? And it was here that I was able to really see what that looks like. So thank you for being that beacon of light and showing your truth. ❤
