I just discovered your channel recently. I really like how you take so much pride in your craft. I’d wager you cut hair with the same precision that you sharpen knives. I just sharpened a knife and slowed down and got a much more polished blade, not like yours but better.

I tried to make sure they atracted and both would attract the blade but Im not sure that it really matters. I just saw someone else do this mod and decided to give it a try and it worked!

Bro i was wondering if you can help it would mean so much to me because of my disability i need and use a knife so much for everything from opening food packets to drink cans bottles only problem i have because im very weak i struggle to flick open some knifes is there any mod i can do to this to make the blade open with like a slight swing a jolt abit like a gravity knife but with a slight jolt swinging

Hey brother, I’m sorry to hear that. Only thing I can think of is possibly cutting a coil or 2 off the spring but I can’t say for certain if it would still operate safely.

Been thinking of doing this on a Spyderco domino which is great except for weak detention, thoughts? Is detent stronger if further from pivot? Do you need two magnets and do they need to be opposite each other? Yes I have messed with the lock bar with no good results.

Your best bet would be opening the detent hole ever so slightly. I believe I have a tutorial on that in my detent modification playlist. Thats a little bit risky if you haven’t done it before but it’s the most likely to give you the results you desire. As far as the magnet goes, you can do just one if you wanted but its not enough of a difference to be satisfying unless you use 2. As long as there’s room to mount the magnets in the weight relief cut outs without them touching the blade, it should work. Hard for me to say for certain how it will workout for you but theoretically as long as they can fit, it should work.

You want them to attract to the blade from both sides, thats all I know 🤷🏻‍♂️

What’s the reason for the magnet upgrade? Do these folders have no detent?

They do not have a detent. The blade stays in the closed position under spring tension due to the locking mechanism. The axis lock, other cross bar locks and back locks function the same way which is why none of them have a detent. They don’t need a detent per say however some people like the feel of a detent which is why they may want to give this a try!

@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL I guess I’m old-fashioned in that I don’t have a desire to rely on springs or magnets if I don’t have to. I bought a bug out just to try the axis lock and found that it works great, but would be reluctant to rely on that thing without a back up if I was to get very far from home. I’ve never used it enough to have an omega spring failure because I’m not one to play with a folding knife. I get them out when I need to use them. I hear the Demko comes with extra springs. That alone does not instill confidence😂 I’ll probably try the Cub just to see what all the hoopla is about. Thanks for the info and responding to my question. And thanks for the videos sir 👍🏻

@@TucoDog-ho6fw I can’t imagine a demko spring failing due to the design. I have however broken a few omega springs but the replacements that I purchased from amazon have held up great. And you’re welcome!
