Very rare footage, even though this is a new truck. I was on my way to garbage kids house to film the Amerp and I missed a light and saw down at the bottom of the hill this Mack. I thought it was just a cement pump truck, then I saw the Heil badge and noticed it was a rapid rail. I was really confused and thought it was a Recology truck that was lost. Then int turned and I saw it was a demo unit. I rushed over to garbage kids house where I just missed the Amrep at his place. He was talking to the driver and so I asked if he knew anything about it. He said they are just trying it out for a few days. I really wanted to film the Amrep as they will be gone really soon. I told garbage is we film the amrep or the demo. we decided on the demo so I hurried back to where I saw it.
We find it after a few minutes of searching and we start filming. The driver got out to pick up a mess so I went up to him and started asking questions. They are just trying it out to see how they like it. The driver said the cab is really comfortable and he likes the rapid rail body. He said it packs good on trash, but thats all they've been trying it on. I'm not sure why they are even trying out a truck since the County has been buying Labries and they still are. A brand new one is on garbage kids route. My Uncle who works for the county as a mechanic said this is typical of the county to buy things the dont have the equipment or parts for. Theres no Macks at the County. So if for some reason they buy one, the mechanics wont be all that happy.
They were going to run it for a few more days over here in the North Area, then they are sending it to the County's South Yard for them to play with. Once it's gone, I dont know how long they will take to make a decision. Most likely they wont get it, unless they put it on an Autocar, which that would be the smartest thing to do. And it would be CNG, as this demo is diesel. Which was another cool thing about his find was there hasn't been a diesel garbage truck in the County for many many years.
Huge thanks to the driver for letting us film! He was really cool and helpful in answering all my questions. I didn't get his name, but he wanted me to film so he can show this to his kids. Hope you enjoy the video! This is for your family!
Hope you all enjoy this rare sighting! I'm so glad I took a personal day off work as I was not needed that day. So I thought Time to film all day! Filmed a lot of bulky waste in the morning. That will be my next upload. Then I filmed this truck until my camera died. Garbage kid is a goof and his died not long after we started filming. He uses a phone and I use a real camera. Wonder why his died first, hmmmmmm.........
