Let's admit it: The AFX Riff makes almost every Reverb sound great

I love the Bam. It can sound both like the Quadraverb and the PCM-70.

So you think 2 pcm70s (stereo) is better then the Bam? Do you think it’s better then a plug-in or not really?
@solon_music5 жыл бұрын
BAM is definitely better than plugins. I don’t think you need 2x PCM70s. 1x PCM70 works just fine (it has a stereo output, even though it only has mono in)
@room86085 жыл бұрын
I need stereo ins for my synths. That’s why either holding out for a real 224 or the Bam make the most sense currently.

Hi, thanks for the demos, I really like them. Do you think it's worth getting Alesis QuadraVerb in addition to BAM, or are they too similar?
@solon_music2 жыл бұрын
They are actually quite different - definitely worth getting both.

So I just got an OTO BAM. Reading the manual it talks about adjusting the filters to make it dark or airy. Could you please tell me how to make the filters dark - which settings? Thank you -

Another great demo! I really like the one called 'Primitive' , are you not a fan of that one? A bit on drums is good.

Cheers - it was just a quick demo of the sounds which instantly worked with riff - I'll spend some more time with the Primitive algorithm.

So is this reverb difficult to use, does it come w a good user's manual?

easy to use and has a good manual - i'm sure you can find it online

Hey, I got a subsequent 37, do you think this is worth the price, or should I go ahead and get a lexicon 70, thanks
@solon_music5 жыл бұрын
I prefer the sound of the PCM 70 - but if portability and reliability are factors (e.g. for live performance) then the BAM is the way to go.

Is it possible to set the reverb decay with the bpm of a song? there are no numbers in the display...Thanks
@solon_music3 жыл бұрын
kind of by using the tap tempo function - from the manual: The TAP tempo switch can be assigned to the Pre-Delay time or the Reverb time. To change the TAP Tempo mode, press and hold the TAP switch for at least 2 seconds. The TAP switch and one of the following LEDs will fash to indicate the current TAP Tempo destination : Led 1. Tap tempo is assigned to the Pre-Delay time. Led 2. Tap tempo is assigned to the Reverb time. You can change this destination with the DATA pot. To exit the TAP Tempo settings, wait for 10 seconds or press the TAP switch.

Thanks for these demos and enjoyed the Solon preset! Seemed to not muddy up the low end as much. Any standout features on this unit that you really like?
@solon_music5 жыл бұрын
The main thing is that it's the closest modern reverb to the sound of the early Lexicons. Also been surprised at how good the Room algorithm is...
@CausaliDox5 жыл бұрын
It actually has built in adjustable high pass and low pass filters, so you can tweak your settings to tame the low end, or dampen the high end. Great little unit!
@AkaTengu5 жыл бұрын
@@solon_music Ah, thanks for that. I'm still aquiring an ear for the different reverb of past and present. Do you feel it's the only hardware unit with that early Lexicon sound or that includes any software emulation too?
@AkaTengu5 жыл бұрын
@@CausaliDox Thanks for pointing that out! It was late and I like closing my eyes during these demos and see the space. So totally overlooked the front panel buttons lol. It's definitely on my radar now!
@solon_music5 жыл бұрын
There are some good software emulations (e.g. the UAD Lexicon 224 and 480) but they still don't sound like the hardware units. Convolution reverbs are also a good way to get that sound, for instance this pack here: littledevilstudios.com.au/2015/03/17/lexicon-224xl-impulse-response-library/

This thing would be perfect if it had a “spill over” function. Otherwise that cutting off between Types breaks up the vibe terribly.
