This is a perfect example of a bad interview. I'm using this for my class. Thanks!

This must have been excruciatingly painful to make. It is horrible to the point of comedy. Totally going to use this for my methods class. Thanks much!

Thanks for sharing this! About to do my first interview and I hope I get it right. Only given two hours. Testing the equipment now plus practicing being calm and speaking clearly. Already nervous...
@Qualitativemind5 жыл бұрын
Your participant may be more nervous than you are. If you do a good introduction, you are well briefed on what you want to learn from the interview, and you focus fully on them, it will work out alright. Most people enjoy being participants because it gives them a chance to be listened to and valued.

@@Qualitativemind thank you. My purpose is to bring attention to non profit women's shelter here in Sweden and the incredible work they're doing despite being underfunded. I'm visiting three shelters in three cities and they all said yes right away when I asked so I feel I must do a good job. This video is really really helpful!

1. Not making eye contact 2. Mostly closed questions 3. Hand over the microphone to the interviewee. The moderator only needs to guide the interviewee 4. Listen! 5. Stay neutral and free from subjective feelings 6. Cut out unnecessary fidgeting 7. If you want your interviewee to talk more, don't keep looking at your watch

Too many distracting hand motions, doesnt keep eye contact, asked closed ended questions (yes/no), asked leading questions (did you like the training?), gave leading answers (keeping voice softer, etc), spoke too quickly, insulted the interviewee (you're contradicting yourself! you're changing your mind!)

The problem with the poor qualitative interview was the fact that the person conducting the interview, talked too fast and in a rushed manner. She also seemed bored by the presence of the participants and was too preoccupied with her cell phone, she interrupted the response of the participant and she over talked the person she was interviewing and lastly, she asked a lot of short answer questions. -TeChina

+Techina Jackson she also was very bias, she suggested a lot about what the answers should be, giving explicit examples and e.g. her tone of voice was encouraging answers favoring the course.

A great example of a bad interview. The interviewer seems to confuse the participant and push her own opinion on the participant. The interviewer is also not well prepared.

why does she have to look at her phone and then asked again her interviewee to clarify what she said because she got disturbed.

this is so contrived. terrible study material. this would be the culinary equivalent of watching a chef pick his nose over a dish, and then students asked, "can you spot the problem here?" insulting.

Hi William: I am not sure if you already picked it up!. Your comment was posted close to 2 years ago. The material was posted for the purpose of what not to do during an interview. This may have escaped you. It is about picking up the mistakes (10 at least) from the interviewer and not to hold this up to be an indication of what is good interviewing. Yours Heico
