Why does it keep the luster vs spinning any other way?

Deborah Tingler great question! any worsted method in which you are smoothing down will create lustre if you have a fibre that has sheen or lustre but with spinning off the top in particular, the spinner is literally folding the fibres in half and smoothing down (if that's the chosen drafting method - you can use any drafting method with spinning from the fold but I've shown worsted, short forward) so the fibres are still perfectly aligned and the sheen tends to be significant.
