In fairness, from a perspective of the Left, it was pretty good - Greens got all the seats they were after and came second in 40 more - they might finally break the glass ceiling on becoming a serious party in an FPTP system. Indy candidates won a few seats, sending a message to Labour that they can't ignore Gaza or left principles, they also caused Tories to get into a few seats simply because the people barred from Labour went on as Independents and split the vote pretty neatly in half. Its worth pointing out that in all these seats, the spiteful labour right, who are controlling the mechanisms of the party right now, put a *lot* of effort into those seats in a mean=spirited attempt to crush left resistance, they failed. A bigger concern is whether they can be gently steered to be more left wing and concillatory rather than competitive in the *next* election - if not, there is a worrying chance Reform could clean up more votes, as they came second in a lot of seats in England.

Starmer changed the party for the worst and purged decent hardworking mp's because they weren't right wing enough! He is a disgrace!!

Same thing here in the US 🇺🇸 with the Democrats; Always willing to move to the right to appeal to the "moderate Republicans" ( like finding a unicorn). The DNC never considers incorporating ideas or platforms of the left, for fear of being labeled "socialists". As if doing something good for the fabric of your society is a bad idea. Contrasted with what Reaganomics and austerity have done for our country and well...

Wtf? " Vital cooperation with Israel?" How did that correspond to any ideas about a cease fire?

Bourgois politics only concerns itself with ceasefire for fear of losing political legitimacy in the eyes of its constituents. They're obviously confident that they can wiggle out of this and appease enough centrists to keep the charade going.

Don't be obtuse. It's very clear what he means and it's that you have to use a combination of incentives and dis-incentives to motivate the behavior of modern nation states towards reform and change, as was done in South Africa.

Haha it's like Churchill saying vital cooperation with the SS back in 1940. Still seemingly ignoring the Gen$ide.

@@prismpyre7653 The ANC had an armed wing which Mandela rightly refused to disavow, even though it meant languishing in prison more years. I can't imagine Corbyn having that courage, nor does he support armed resistance against Zionist oppression.

Thank you Jeremy Corbyn for having the moral fortitude to oppose the Genocide in Gaza. Isn't it disturbing that refusing to support genocide is labeled anti-Semitism?
@Keepthepeacesharethelove2 ай бұрын
But it isn't anti-semitism. Only because some labeled it like that, doesn't make it true.

so is PLO, ARA, FAL, NBP, Golden Square of Iraq, Amin al Husseini, Muhhamad Rashid Rida and Abbas or "In 1937, evading an arrest warrant for aligning himself as leader of the 1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine against British rule, he fled and took refuge in Lebanon and afterwards Iraq. He then established himself in Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, which he collaborated with during World War II against Britain, requesting during a meeting with Adolf Hitler backing for Arab independence and opposition to the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine.[14] Upon the end of the war, he came under French protection, and then sought refuge in Cairo. In the lead-up to the 1948 Palestine war, Husseini opposed both the 1947 UN Partition Plan and Jordan's plan to annex the West Bank. Failing to gain command of the Arab League's Arab Liberation Army, Husseini built his own militia, the Holy War Army. In September 1948 he participated in the establishment of an All-Palestine Government in Egyptian-ruled Gaza, but this government won limited recognition and was eventually dissolved by Egypt in 1959. After the war and the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight, his claims to leadership were discredited and he was eventually sidelined by the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1964.[15] He died in Beirut, Lebanon, in July 1974."

Corbyn and the Green Party are the hope that Westminster M.P.s will be reminded on a daily basis that Palestine is going nowhere, anytime soon ! Time for the Friends of Israel and AIPAC .. 2 party,s that have had to much influence over the UK Political Party,s of both Conservative and Labour ? Carbon Copy of how they have infiltrated USA Political Party,s ? To pack up while they can ? The World has seen the ..Face of Perpetual War and we will not forget who the aggressors are ? The Zionist State of Israel !! Boycott their goods .Banks, Food Outlets , Financial Institutions today, tomorrow until Palestine is Free from Israel Forever ?

The allegations of antisemitism in the Labour party were correct and still are, the Starmer wing of the party has been purging the more leftist wing of of party and defending antisemites for so many years now,. Reform and Tories are worse but that is not a reason to ignore the racism in the Labour party.

Would be great for Corbyn to build community and solidarity with some of the socialist groups in the UK. His considerable weight and fame could really boost the signal of leftist groups and build an actual Worker’s movement. Jeremy mentioned here that the left needs to come together; as one of the most prominent leftists in the UK he can be that catalyst with either a new party, or by leveraging existing groups and platforms like TUSC
