And the supreme cult (court) is tightening it in fealty to the real "power" brokers of this dystopian system here- I'm VERY hopeful that we don't see y'all getting sued by Disney, Time Warner or something, for the losses in profit for you guys rightfully striking.. I'm ALSO hoping it's apparent to enough of Us who aren't adjacent to your union, directly, in the event that the Ghouls DID however take note of the SCOTUS' recent work of legal fiction, suggesting that you've got to protect the profits of the employer before being able to strike, and subsequently serve Fran or whomever, with a notice of intent to seek restitutions, I PRAY the rest of US really appreciate that KINDA INHUMANE treatment for what it IS.. An opening salvo to check ALL LABOR.. So we're all gonna need to be ready for THAT REALITY in the future.. If not here- Maybe of UPS follows through on their Union's 350k members' need to strike.. In any case.. A GENUINE GENERAL STRIKE is the best way to deflect THAT attempt to gut what remains of organized Labor And take the POWER BACK from the Brokerage

personally what I hope people take note of is that the "problems" that they are talking about are part of a new business model that was designed and implemented by the CEOs that are making the most and refusing to take any penalties themselves. The designed all this without consultation of the other labour involved and see no reason that they should suffer the consequences of their actions. The work of all these union members has not changed yet for some reason the producers are trying to find ways to siphon funds from them because they changed the business' income stream and it isn't paying out.

SHe is not wrong. I have had several friends that bemoan that Hollywood actors get overpaid and then they cite people like George Clooney, Tom Hanks, etc. But these are the exceptional actors. Take a look at any movie or commercial or tv show. Most of those actors are making a far lower wage and they don't get paid if they are not cast. The strike is for the majority of actors and not the top few that get paid millions per movie.

The disparity between the executives and the workers is self-evident. Iger and other execs like him dismiss the 'unwashed group' as an unfortunate necessity. It amazes me how much a few actors make and some of the execs make while the majority are lucky to make ends meet. There should be a ceiling on what they make so that the difference can be distributed among the writers, actors and crews. There should not be a goldmine for some and impoverishment for others.

I'm rooting for this strike so much, I hope this becomes more widespread. The justification for that ridiculous CEO to call the demands unrealistic is the very root of capitalism. He can't say "because we need to exploit and take everything we can from workers", but that's the obvious truth. That's what this system is based upon. That's what affords him the opportunity to go to his little exclusive summer camp with his exclusive little friends. Meanwhile, in this same program, hunger is surging. How can someone believe this is the best system we can have when capitalism fosters and rewards these sociopaths running corporations all over the world?

The gap between rich and poor is reaching a crisis point where there is going to be an explosion of global popular uprising. The ruling class should be extremely worried, but their greed and need to make profit at any human/environmental cost, blinds them to the fury that is becoming increasingly stacked up against them. They wont change or learn;all they have is propaganda, distraction, lies and continuous wars to try to pit the working class against each other and so take the heat off themselves, but it's not going to work now as more people are suffering physically and economically form their actions by the day, they will eventually be swept away.

@@voulafisentzidis8830 - When one looks at the history of Hollywood, from the Silent Era, the Golden Era, and on to the present time, I think it's a rather cynical view to say that "it's quite a stretch to say that anything coming out of Hollywood is art. " I would like to know - How do you define art? What is it about art (be it a painting, a novel, a movie) that has given you a deep sense of fulfillment, wonder, and joy in your life?

@@KOMET2006 my definition would be anything which moves or stays with me beyond the period of viewing. Earlier films at least had heart. For the past 20 years films and tv programmes have been written to a formula (car crashes, gunshots, special effects) which seemingly will get worse given the plan to have AI write scripts to a commercial formula which are finalised by human writers. I'm interested in human stories, with heart.

@@voulafisentzidis8830 - You make some good points. But when you stated that "For the past 20 years films and tv programmes have been written to a formula (car crashes, gunshots, special effects) which seemingly will get worse given the plan to have AI write scripts to a commercial formula which are finalised by human writers" --- are you referring mainly to U.S. generated movies (both Hollywood and independents)? I am a movie fan. But not one who looks solely to Hollywood and some U.S. independents. I also very much enjoy watching movies from the UK, France, Canada, Latin America, and several other countries that have movie industries that have earned an international following. For instance, a few weeks ago, I saw a South Korean film, "Past Lives", centered on a South Korean man and woman who grew up and attended school together in Seoul until the young lady's family emigrated to Canada. Later, as adults (by which time, the young lady is now a playwright living in New York; the young man remained in South Korea), they reconnect via social media and eventually meet in New York. I found it to be an interesting movie which gave me a keen appreciation for the lives of young people from across the world.

The great irony is that AI needs artists more than artists need AI. If you train AI continuously on AI generated content, it degrades and becomes rubbish. See Futurism’s article “AI Loses Its Mind After Being Trained on AI-Generates Data” and The Independent’s “Scientists warn of threat to Internet from AI-Trained AIs.” The original creators of the data that is used to train AI add the greatest value or, in economic jargon, provide the greatest value added. Yet Big Tech would like to pretend otherwise. So not only is this unethical, it’s shortsighted and could have disastrous consequences. It turns out doing the right thing (ensuring you get consent, giving credit where it’s due, and fairly compensating artists) would have also been the smart thing. AI companies need real visual artists, musicians, writers, actors, voice actors, etc. While most of us would be more than happy to go on without them. Furthermore, the majority of people do not want AI. It’s most fervent supporters are, predictably, the tech corporations ripping off artists and the public to take and profit from our data, which is all that makes AI valuable. The AI hype is just that-hype. It takes from the hard and excellent work of humans to generate lookalike or soundalike work. Nothing transformative about it.

Hollywood thinks no one can beat them. When the uprising comes from inside the house and it comes from the people doing 90% of the labor, Hollywood is in major trouble. I think the writers and actors should band together, create their own companies, make content on their own and really make the most of people being addicted to tiktok and shorts. They could succeed in new ways and show Hollywood they are outdated, by choice.
