Do not seek a pardon for Garvey. That would mean he is confessing to guilt. Rather, the charges must be expunged and his imprisonment must be repaired.

Marcus Garvey said "We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, for though others may free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is our only ruler; sovereign.

Sir you are ignorant of the history of Marcus Garvey. He started his work in Jamaica fighting oppression, colonialism, economic exploitation. He started a political party and a trade union. He constantly agitated for his people. He soon extended his work to the West Indies and Central America. On deportation he worked tirelessly for the poor and disenfranchised people of Jamaica and black people of the world. Obama did not pardon Garvey because of his cowardice and because he is not a black man. He is a solid member of the establishment and the wealthy elite.

Typical black American mentality, ignoring the contributions of Caribbeans, what would Dr King had done without Harry Belafonte who was of Jamaican heritage who helped bail him out of prison, and providing trustfunds for his children, ignorant black Americans.

J Edgar Hoover was a man of color or colour if you have a British background. Because he could pass for white he did. That is why,I believe, he especially treated Murcus Garvey and other black people harshly as he certainly didn't want to be outed as black. I have more European blood than African and can certainly pass as white but I don't but I wonder to myself if I had been around (even though I'm 66)in earlier times would I have passed as a matter of survival.

I'm not holding my breath for Obama to do it, but under Trump, he will peel back the Department of Education stranglehold on the minds of the youths, and if blacks want to teach their kids about Marcus Garvey, they will have that choice.

i admire very much about Mr Garvery. at the same time a lot of money from trusting people disappeared. Gravity was kid of railroaded. but he was foolish to mostly defend himself. final thought--we all shouldn't spend so much time fussing and fighting about a dead man. living people are higher priority.

Black People were complaining they didn't want to be in America, they were being mistreated as we all knew how racism rose from back then. He was basically doing them a favor. He never been there but at least he was standing with the african americans. Marcus Garvey had nearly 500 thousand people marching behind him in Harlem.

@@ROYALPRIESTHOOD1111 o yea i know how valuable africa is. But the difference is i own property in nigeria and built relationships with people. Not practicing what you preach is what help create the so called conscious community. A community really good at articulating how racist america is but have no solution. A community that profits of black peolpe misfortune.
