Once again, since being appointed a second term, his first trip was a four-nation tour of the continent. Throughout his presidency Xi Jinping has made it a priority for him and other top state officials to visit African countries as a way to solidify and build upon ever growing Sino-Africa relations. In fact, the Chinese foreign minister makes an annual visit to the continent at the beginning of each year. You don’t know what you're asking for. In Africa, we used to have electricity powered by dams and hydro plants, but those are often sabotaged. Today, however, we have solar panels installed on homes, even in villages, and where the poor live. We have trains running from city to city, and highways built to modern standards-better than what the colonizers could build. Industries are emerging, and we now have the opportunity to buy solar-powered or electric vehicles that don’t rely on gas combustion. All these succcces come through our collaboration with China 🇨🇳 and Russia 🇷🇺. So, tell me, what have the colonial powers really done for us? For me, it's China that is helping Africa, building infrastructure across the continent with the support of Russia.

I’m from Angola, and this visit has been a disaster for the entire country. The MPLA government, which has been in power for 50 years, is marked by corruption and mismanagement. People are struggling to survive, with some even resorting to eating garbage. Elections are often stolen, and the opposition leader is denied the right to speak in public forums. It’s all just a big show and a shameful situation. 😥😥😥😥

Wow! As an Angolan i am astonished. Okay Angola has alot of problems and we get it. But i just came from a morning walk from one of the roads that was closed due to the visit of Joe Biden and nothing happened to me. Plus the break is only in Luanda and not country wide

Angolan here living in Angola... this was very sad for me to watch, we unfortunately have a president that is driving the country in the wrong direction. Towards the corrupt and falling empire of the west instead of going the way of Brics with China and Russia. I´m deeply embarassed by our current government. All I can say is that no one here is fooled by the intentions of the US.

I wish Amy and her cohost would have given the female guest more time to talk. Regrettably, the professor is a Western mouthpiece and spoke of USA interest in neutral terms instead of calling it put for what it is; explotative and neo colonialism. The professor is one of the reasons why Africans will always be exploited by Westerners. You'd think being a professor, an educated man, he would know better. Absolutely loved the female guest for putting the narrative straight on Angola and Western Exploitation 👏 👌

Imagine a time when the African market is large enough for our resources, with enough capital. Us as Africans not needing anyone else but each other. Until then we won't be taken seriously, we'll forever be just a piece of meat waiting to be shared among the big countries. Our leaders must wake up

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari and US president Donald Trump during a press conference at the White House in 2018 His administration’s “America First” foreign policy also meant disengaging from its obligations to Africa, which he infamously referred to as “shit-hole countries”. Trump’s “Muslim” travel ban denied entry to nationals of a number of Muslim-majority countries, including several African ones. Imposed under the banner of US security, it had the effect of further reinforcing negative images of the continent as a place of insecurity and danger."
