I have visited Haiti. Never have I met so many good, brave and beautiful people struggling against so many difficult problems. This episode reveals what many have known for years: Haiti has been undermined and attacked since it first gained it's freedom. The Haitians met President "all men are created equal" Jefferson and were turned away. We owe the Louisiana Purchase in many ways to the successful Haitian Revolution. France gave up on its hope of a "New" world empire and sold its North American holding to the US. Have we ever thanked the Haitians? No, but we did loan them money (US banks) to pay reparations to the French. Exploitation more than human rights.

Thank u Andy for being objective and for speaking the truth and not propaganda about haitian people. The haitian people are the true exceptional peoples for their resiliency in struggling to survive beyond all obstacles placed in their path by former colonizers. We can still see it today, the unwavering efforts the masses are making in order to survive beyond imagination. Haiti is an agrarian state where 80% of its pop was employed in agriculture which produced 95% of its domestic consumption up to early 21st century under President Aristide. When a country produces majority of its domestic consumption, it paves the way to development, social and economic which was interrupted by US foreign policy begining in the 1978 with the eradication of the creole pigs that represented capital investments for the masses. It costs the US implemented by USAID $23 million to annihilate the creole pigs meanwhile that economic devastation wiped out $600 million from the Haitian economy that year. It is imperative to remember that the pigs were assets that would continue to grow with each porcine breeding every 6 months or twice a year. It is quite simple to figure out how much the economic destruction the US foreign policy inflicted upon the peasant farmers for years to come. A simple calculation of the $600 mil multiply by 44 years would amount to $26.4 and that is only a moderate calculation of one breeding a year not two which amount would double. The lost of the creole pigs set off a wave of migrants to the florida keys as many families were bankrupted and the govt was unable to provide any relief for the economic losses suffered by smallholder farmers. Today, Haiti still finds small merchants peddling the streets with any little trunkets or food crops they purchase for resell in order to make a living and not rely on handouts or govt assistance which doesnt exist. The predatory mafia class holding the economy hostage uses the govt as its first client where majority of their investments are purchased by the govt which leaves no budget for socio-economic programs, not education, not healthcare and no job creation. Haiti is a mafia state that the people must work to destroy these predators that are devastating the lives of the Haitian people. Its bad govt, its no govt at all to create the atmosphere to pillage and plunder the resources of the state. There are resource studies showing that Haiti has more oil than venezuela, hydrocarbons, copper, nickle, silver, gold, irridium and uranium, etc. These resources are said to be worth trillions of dollars. In fact Haiti is not poor, Haiti is poorly managed and its state is held captive by the predators in the atlantic.

Little known fact: Napoleon had a plan that after defeating the Haitians he would use it's battle hardened soldiers to help set up an empire in its Louisiana territory. That would've had the US facing the nightmare scenario of having armed and experienced black soldiers of an enemy nations sharing the sub continent and the prospect of their own slaves escaping across the border and joining up with the French/Haitian armies

Ignorance and lack of knowledge are fatal. The wise old saying that "my people perish because a lack of knowledge" has never been true as it is now. My mother is 71 years old born in 1951. She is the so called "American Christian" and have been indoctrinated to believe the lies of white American Christians that Haiti and Africa are punished by GOD due to their witchcraft and voodoo religions. Of course, growing up as a kid you believe what your parents or guardians repeat over and over again and/or tell you. But ever since I've researched, studied and learned the truth I can't tell you how angry it makes me. I found myself angry all the time. Knowledge is power but it also makes you angry, lol. How can you be an enemy to your parents? But Jesus said that the gospel will turn mother against daughter and son against father. Although, I avoid these topics when we get together but it is hard to ignore the feelings. I don't know about your upbringing, but I sense that this misleading information and miseducation has been the fabric of all Americans, but especially black Americans throughout history in the USA. We have single handedly been the instruments of our own self-destruction. We have helped to destroy and persecute our leaders and profits.

Everyone else was either bad (Soviets, Chinese - Communism, of course Fascism Nazism) or beneath us (African countries, India, south America etc). I grew up believing that the West European and North American way of life was the best. I'm certainly proud of his achievements, (At least on the surface, he may have been the worst President in my lifetime!) and he is a fine example for ANY man in this world, (In terms of his success). In reality, Obama was a Godless man who did more for homosexuality and abortion rights! However, the fact that the first Black president, never bothered to visit the first and only free Black nation in the western hemisphere, really told me what he was truly about. He visited practically every country in Europe, China, Japan, Iran, Arabia, India, Australia, Israel etc. But not my ancestor's homeland. It would have been helpful if the first Black President confronted the French Government in regards to the billions in reparations that we were forced into paying under the threat of sanctions, embargoes, and more war (The United States was also willing to support these devils to fortify white supremacy), because we fought and killed as men, and freed ourselves from the scourge of slavery! These billions that we have been paying would ild our nation, but it wasn't important to him obviously. His former underboss Biden, has rolled out the red carpet for the Ukrainians, yet he treated the Haitian refugees like savages and returned them to a very destitute situation. Yet, most Black American people believe in everything Democrat. Oh yeah, and fuck dem Republicans as well!

Example, if you airdrop food on a population-they will eat, children will grow, population will grow, but if they do not take over that food production you will have a situation with more mouths too feed than before help was sent. Even though 2 years old I had not heard this before HOWEVER France's involvement in overthrowing the Government of Haiti makes PERFECT SENSE as France was primary in the overthrow of Gadaffi in Libya as 1) Gadaffi's attempt to create a "Gold Dinar" as currency for North Africa threatened French banks which had through Colonialism left the French Franc as the currency in those countries and if the Franc was replaced by the "Gold Dinar" French banks would lose all the profits from exchanging money, 2) France wanted Libyan oil. While Western nations may have claimed to quit colonizing other countries, the West has not stopped being Pirates.

Viva Toussaint, after Haiti Declaration of Independence and the surrender of Napoleon Bonaparte the Haitians formed their own country. The first democracy and 1803. At that time do United States as well as all other countries forbid the import of any slaves would been to Haiti. They were afraid of the Haitian slave spreading the word of freedom. Ships avoided trade and going there and Haiti was cut off. Due mostly to the white man's fear of black men. The financial aspect is obvious but a lot more complicated than I ever knew. I think the timing of this release is very timely, considering the United States and The EU and so many huge corporations are being so righteous and generous about Ukraine (even though they are doing it just to save their own necks and wallets from Putins destablization....not because they actually give a damn about Ukrainians unfortunately, like they should) This is the perfect time to be making the most noise (even if it is old news) about what is possible to be done as far as paying Haiti back (and what can be done to protect Taiwan and Palestine from oppression, as well, while we're protecting people.) So many nations and corporations are even offering to rebuild the destroyed parts of Ukraine for free or at a low cost. If people don't want to sent the money directly to corrupt Haitian officials, then they should at least offer to completely implement the total outfitting of a top of the line infrastructure for Haiti, or send direct payments directly to Haitian citizens, like they did with the stimulus here in the United States. I don't know. But people can fix the problem if they just put their minds to it

How about America or those other countries also offering to rebuild the countries they invaded and occupied for 20 years? You forgot to mention the stunning hypocrisy, not to mention grotesque double standard of wanting to bend over backwards to help the Ukrainians (who are white) and punish Russia for doing exactly what the US and its allies did in Afghanistan and Iraq. Do the thousands of Afghan and Iraqi civilians killed by American and British bombs not matter because they are not white? You do know that Biden (as much a war criminal as Putin) bombed 12 kids in Afghanistan as well as in Syria. And now he is literally starving the Afghans to death out of sheer spite. How about reperations for Afghanistan and Iraq? But of course we all KNOW that America and its allies will NEVER take responsibility for anything while at the same time they comically call for Russia to take responsibility. Pathetic.... For that matter....when will sanctions and punishment be given to the US and its allies for what they did in Afghanistan and Iraq?

History does repeat it self. Keys to understanding modernity lie in historical fact. Beware of fake history creators though. Americans do not understand their own civil war, why would they care about Hati? But they should. Napoleon sold the Louisiana purchase to the US for funding to put down Hati's slave rebellion. Fast forward, Democracy Now, never discusses the role of the Castorol Corporation's destruction of Hati's rich farmlands. But does dance around the truth that the NWO in 1871, replaced traditional slavery with debt servitude. Traditional slavery required feeding, clothing, and housing of slaves, in national debt servitude, none of this required, and in default real property is gained. There is no gain at the end of a slaves life for the investment. However, global depopulation is easy when all real property and assets are seized in debt default. ALL WARS ARE BANKERS WARS

Same thing happened in our country (Indonesia); we had to pay the dutch for their losses in "property" and etc., as part the agreement for independence. Then they came back (US this time) with 1998 ochestrated economic crisis. Colonialism is not over, and the mentality is still there, that's how the west got "developed".

I feel stupid to say this, but I had always thought of the Netherlands/Dutch as a benign liberal country, then I watched a program on television that showed Dutch atrocities (genecides) AFTER World War II to try to reclaim after Japan's exit. I was shocked by the murderous and failed rampage. And being a fairly in depth history person surprised how unaware I was and learned from a source such as television. Power corrupts. Blood wicked species, human beings. Also intelligent and kind. Conflicted smart killers. RIP all the indigenous peoples who have suffered so.

@@tonyjones1560 Correct, it is important to recognise the thought patterns, the strategies and methods of the powers in the post colonial era. Unfortunately many brain washed people just run with the story we are given. I am glad that documentation has been recovered which help expose some of what was done. History and truth is our ally. There is one set of laws and conventions for white and another for black, brown and indigenous people, and that needs to be exposed and challenged!

Great reporting. I must say: generally the conversation of reparations extends up to the start of colonization. In the case of Haiti, this debate shouldn't begin with debt of independence. It should start I fuxking 1492, when Columbus step his nasty ass boots on the Island. 115 billion? That's a small sum compared to what Haiti has done for France's economy and development. Haiti wasn't called the Pearl of the Caribbean for nothing.

Why start of colonization? Why not before that? Because it doesn't fit the narrative? Arabs ran the biggest Slave trade in history, bigger than Atlantic slave trade. Yet they aren't held accountable. What about the Mongols & Turkic invasions & massacre of Eastern Europe & Middle East? Any reparations coming from there? Is turkey gonna pay Reparations to all the Balkan countries for centuries of Ottoman exploits? What about Saudi Arabia, UAE etc paying reparations to spain & Portugal for 700 yrs of arab Islamic occupation, invasion, Colonization of Iberian peninsula. That wasn't too long before Columbus. I bet you aren't gonna advocate any of that, because it's not gonna fill all white guilt you are carrying.

It’s estimated France owes Haiti $1.2 Trillion dollars & the US owes about $500 billion for their involvement in suppressing the state of Haiti constitution and neglecting if not assisting in the financial persecution and common welfare of their citizen. The US could have spent as much as they did in Afghanistan in Haiti and our boarders let alone the Caribbean and Western Hemisphere would be in a better place. But sadly the greater theft is of a people’s vision for liberty and justice. It’s interesting the closes 3rd world Nation to the US, another story of earthquakes and newly found gold and oil in resources only to be robbed by the foreigners, sad story.

The story of Haiti resembles the story of African Americans in the US, no power, no socio-economic programs to lift them out of poverty. The best that was given to the AA is a jail sentence of 20 to 30 years by the then Senator Biden and Bill Clinton in 2000 that saw a significant increase in the prison population from 700k to 2 mil in just one year. AA has $1.3 trillion in purchasing power, yet their communities are consumers and not producers. Haiti is being converted into a consumer state where all of its profit leaves the state -- capital flight and not get reinvested in the nation to grow the economy
