Thank you one more time, Amy Goodman for another man's journey and his story on immigration, Salvadorian writer and poet, Zavier Zamora, his new book, " Solita." What an incredible story and journey. Another book I shall buy and afer reading donate it to my public library. How challenging for him as a nine year old, and how he is able to tell this story as he got older to combine history and poetry with his creativity. The synchronicity of meeting others who helped mentor him with his capacity to compel him to move forward. An consciousness healing with writing for himself and others. Reflections with an open- mindset. Congratulations, dear Javier Zamora, and much love to your parents and grandparents and for everyone reading this book that will encourage and enlightened others. A soul's journey for healing.❤

Considering we're all from immigrants ... many immigrants infuse fresh wonderful energy into our culture, our work force, our entire economic system. Noone says there should be zero checks or unregulated immigration...just sane, non-rascist, thoughtful, and kind effort that fits into a whole considered plan for our country's population, resource management, and changing climate. Blessings to all involved and to our immigrant forefathers (and mothers!)...❤...

Central America (and few other places) is where many grocery items (such as bananas) can be grown. The family that made Oil products indispensable in our lives used their profits to corner at least some of the food market (food... "who needs that"?). Well, in case you haven't noticed, there is a LOT of outside influence (regardless of the cost) on governments of countries with Oil.... same is true for protecting the profits of the few when it comes to food.

red, or blue, confederates or union, Russia or Ukraine, people pick sides and ideologies, and when you are not on the winning team--we hear the Civil war cryers foreve, nonstop to this day. When do people get on board, get on with their countrymen and women's best interest to move forward? Always broiled in war? An idealism that doesn't exist anywhere. I am proud of him accomplishing, finisihing, publishing his narrative. Reminds me of Frederick Douglass leaving us record.

American society is dysfunctional and requires scapegoats. People who come here to work without documentation do so much of the work in this country, and many pay taxes as well. And yet many Americans make them pay for the good they do, and the benefits they provide to the society. We MUST change our sick need to scapegoat people, especially vulnerable people. We should be protecting vulnerable people.

I just finished reading Solito, and this interview provided some of the context that I felt was missing in the book. In the book, he never really explained to readers who may not know El Salvador's history why his family would have taken such a risk. It was told from the perspective of a nine-year-old, of course, but I had thought there might be an afterward providing more of the context. Don't get me wrong, though, it was a great and very important book. I was happy to learn that he and the rest of "the four" made it and that he seems to have done well, all things considered, since his arrival.

As an immigrant myself, many of us never thought leaving our county, our families, our lives. Many of us did have dreams of making it (succeeding) within our own borders, for ourselves, for out families and for our country. Many of us encounter tremendous obstacles in many different ways that overcoming them are impossible by staying at the mercy of corrupt, criminal systems. Although many have the possibility (money, or contacts) for a proper way of asking a foreign embassy for permission to entry, many get denied, but the reason they are fleeing does not end with that denial, people seeks to protect their lives at any cost, and that's nature, that's a natural instinct.

Very interesting story. I was wondering why the father didnt take his wife & son with him. The USA needs to stop contributing to the unrest in areas south of our border and try to instill peace there, removing any need for them to abandon their homelands. Also we should try to convince Mexico to partner in such peace-building and if necessary accept immigration from these areas, as there would be less of a language-barrier, and enforce laws against the Coyotes & human trafficking. There is a reason why the USA has immigration laws and they must be enforced.
