Q: Why are there not more people like Tariq Ali in positions of political power? A: Because the man is a selfless servant of the oppressed and not a bribe taker nor baby killer.
@rd26410 күн бұрын
joel, most countries are operated by the right wing. Thus in America the recent election showed why: most voters are right wing - most are apathetic or actually support the proxy wars in Gaza and Ukraine - the Jill Stein voters - few in number as you may know - STRONGLY opposed these wars.

As a German I think Mr.Ali is perfectly right. Germany is the worst country in Europe when it comes to free speech.Ali wrote in the liberal Süddeutsche Zeitung. Nowadays this is unimagibal. Thank you for this interesting Interview. I learned a lot of it

enthralling edit- minus the jill stein bit. the left needs less idol worship and more policy focus. we should be supporting the state by state push for rank choice voting. stein doesn't do that, she just preys on the empathy and desperation of people every 4 years.
@vivalaleta13 күн бұрын
I agree with you mostly but that's bullshit about Stein. You don't have to worship her to recognize she has a gift and works her 70 year old ass off.

Cannot take Tariq seriously since he tried to shut down Norman Finklestein's book on account of him ridiculing Tariq's use of the expression "birthing women". The compatible left blob is assimilating all my heroes.

? This man was very close with Edward Said. Said was close with Norman Finkelstein. Finkelstein was close with Chomsky. I am suspicious of you for trying muck up the waters Do you work for the NSA or the CIA, that is what I want to know.
@KevinMcNaughton-vg8fp12 күн бұрын
Mr Ali's ego is the size of Wembley Stadium. His lectures (interminable, never-ending) are carbon copies of the writings of Edward Said, Noam Chomsky, Susan Sontag with a bit of Orwell, Sinclair, Camus, Gramsci, Foucault, Lenin and of course Marx fused together. He loathes Britain and English (the language of the imperialist) but has made his home in London and has stayed in Britain for years? One wonders why? I once asked a Marxist friend to assess the contribution of Tariq Ali to the anti-imperialist struggle "minimal at best, but he'll tell us how important he is when he writes his autobiography."
@Lunde85911 күн бұрын
Who doesnt loath Britain what is not to loath . The US empires complicit in the Israeli Endlösing in Gaza . I dont hate brits but their politicians are not working for the poor and always follow every stupid , evil plan USA comes up with

Oh dear a triggered mere white privileged male! Did you not get to achieve anything despite your privileges? So it’s ok for white people to go and live in ( often steal) other people’s countries even if they don’t like the ‘natives’ nor their languages! I wonder why!!
