No election in The USA has stirred so much mental strife and fear in the marginalized of this global society than this 2024 elections because Africans on both sides of the Atlantic ocean are still dealing with the emotional baggage of the horrors of the trans Atlantic slave trade and route in so many ways and places. I used to hear of the Confederacy, but delved into it to know more about it just a week before this just concluded 2024 US elections. I once asked myself if any past US President has apologized to Black Americans for the injustice slavery has brought, done and left on each Black American besides The Emancipation Proclamation of January 1863 by the one and only President Abraham Linkoln, a Republican, and then I remembered that President Bill Clinton did make an open apology while in office. While one hopes that the challenges, pains and losses this singular act of inhumanity of one side against the other will come to an end, very disheartening to see more terrible stories as contained in this film are emerging and thanks to Yoruba Richen for taking the time to tell us there is more. Know your History, know where you are coming from so that you know where you are going. Thank you really Yoruba and all Film Makers who have brought real life stories of this type to the knowlegde of others.

@@Mageroeth Nah. It won't take but long for racist yt-peepow from the wealthy-class to find a way to cut the funding to local-LE in racial-minority areas, and there are plenty of racist yt-peepow from the working-class who will help the racist yt-peepow from the wealthy-class. Furthermore, there are plenty of racial-minorities in LE who will gladly do whatever their yt-masters tell them to do. That's RW-politics -- the indecent, wealthy-class knaves using the indecent, working-class dupes to control the decent & innocent working-class people -- and it's been going on for thousands of years. That's exactly how the wealthy-class Confedrates & wealthy-class NatCs got their power, and the same dynamic is happening in the US today.

@@MageroethWe have defined enemies like few times in US history. There are hateful people who voted for Trump, and there are those who aren't taking that hate lying down. You might want to read the news, lol.

This is why they assinated Fred Hampton. If the poor whites and the poor blacks got together it would be a real threat.

Thats how the branding of black and white started iäfrom the beginning. This was no big deal in early america until there was a revolt of poor peasants, the majority of settlers, black and white, against the wealthy new england landlords, bacons rebellion, 1660 or so. After that the Elites started to divide in black and white

I've read Zucchino's book on this subject & a lot of newspaper articles from that time. What I don't like is how the word "multiracial" is used here; our modern sensibilities may confuse the reality here. There were just Blacks & whites there. My main point: WS has been attempting to erase Black life in every way since 1526; this is just an extreme example of systematic oppression. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

Thank you for expressing this. When I hear black women after the election say they are going to 'rest', I know they don't know their own history. We can NEVER rest as long as there's anti blackness. We are made to resist from our very souls.

Where are all the natives in all this? It's their land!!
@Soulsonsix14 күн бұрын
Many Native Americans were dispossessed, expelled, and/or marginalized. Many of those left were hardly positioned to contribute politically in any significant way outside of the Fusion movement. Still, their influence mattered and was felt in the lives of families like my own, which has tribal heritage in the Low Country region.

This is some very important history that's often left out, and for that reason it's good to see. But it would be nice to see a more honest and balanced treatment of it. When someone is working so hard to frame the story in terms of their current political worries, it doesn't inspire confidence in their facts.
