The Department of Education should be shut down. Local schools and states should be the only ones involved in the education of children. The truth is, that the education system has not been working for the American citizens, something have to be done to prepare our people to have the tools to compete in the international arena. We are behind in eduction, even civics are lacking in the country, they stop educating our children about the civic duties and responsibilities of a citizen. The system is not working has it is. I went to public school in the 70’s including college degree, ( PSC degree in 1980 ) my children also went to public school and also my grandchildren. I have a lot of experience with the education system, and we can not compete with China education system or any other advance country. The American people are extremely uneducated in politics, they have been brainwashed for decades by all main stream media. To find the truth one has to find resources through other countries information look at you for example, instead of debating my idea, you went straight for personal attack, that is insane, yet it is how Americans relate to each other in political matters, the dialect in search of the truth is replace by insults. No we are not even educated enough to understand that the debate of ideas is not personal, it is a political necessity.

We have way too many kids, graduating every year, that can't read of do basic math! That tells me that the DOE is worthless although their proposed budget is over $6 billion more this year. The federal government has far exceeded its Constitutional authority and it's time for a major overhaul.There are a lot of agencies that could be cut and we wouldn't miss them.

Back in the day, PBS was a public asset. After Reagan cut their funding, corporate donors took over, and the average liberal doesn't know that "public television" has been spewing corporate propaganda ever since. Same for NPR.
