As Israeli bombs and ground troops approach Nasser Hospital, the largest remaining partially functioning health facility in Gaza, we speak with Dr. James Smith, an emergency medical doctor recently returned from Gaza, where he worked alongside Palestinian healthcare workers to treat patients at Al-Aqsa Hospital. "Every single day, without exception, there were multiple mass casualty incidents at the hospital," says Smith. "They would include open chest wounds, open abdominal wounds, traumatic amputations, severe full-thickness burns … really some of the most horrific traumatic injuries that I have ever seen."

​@@semsemeini7905If you want to get specific about it, Israel controlled Gaza's borders by land, sea, and air severely restricting the in and out flow of people and resources. One reason why the tunnels were built by Hamas was to smuggle prohibited items in (obviously that included weapons). It was technically a siege but since it is now reoccupied because of the war, I guess that distinction doesn't matter anymore. The West Bank and East Jerusalem have been consistently occupied and under Israeli military control. The UN calls Palestine "the occupied territories".

So so sad. I couldn’t imagine working in these conditions. I worked in a make shift trauma unit , no water, luckily we had a generator for power, but we ran out of equipment but not medicines, after a devastating earthquake that hit our city, this was one of the most horrifying and sad experiences of my career, that was just a couple off full on days of trauma patients, I ended up with PTSD after this event and this is without bombs giving off all around you, (although there was a real treat of the building collapsing )that was nothing compared to what these Drs, nurses and hospital workers are doing, day after day after day, they are well past running on adrenaline now! They must be exhausted and so angered by what they are seeing. This is just too sad. No civilian, Israeli or Palestinian should be dying. All lives matter. Stop all war! Bring peace to the world please, this is just too much, senseless murder of human beings, not only in this part of the world but itgere are around 45 conflicts around the works as we speak!!” Mali, Congo, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Columbia Mexico, Afghanistan,….. to name a few, senseless ridiculous war that solves nothing and only causes suffering. Let’s not forget the Ukraine / Russia conflict! Hundreds of thousand dead! ❤
