Didn't understand the true complexities of the tragic "Katrina" but am slightly more alert presently. We are political prisoners and have been since the overthrow of the Moors. Very honored to hear natives of New Orleans speaking to the world about the injustices that took place and are still consuming the light, laughter, and life out of every nationality who survived and were displaced. This is the time to gather our cowry shells and become one for sure.

Without the rule of law like we have now. where nobody is ever held accountable. unless you are poor and powerless. Insurance is entirely worthless. Everyone has to sue to get them to pay but they never cover the court costs or the long time they did not pay.

There are many Blacks who want to return to New Orleans who can’t afford to because there are no opportunities for them and, to be frank; they’re being replaced by foreigners. First off, since the most devastation came from the federal government, a failure from the Army Core of Engineers via the dam (not to mention the and aiding of fraud from the insurance companies) any native Black Americans who want to return to New Orleans should be given a plot of land and access to any building materials needed to build a home. This government should offer (incentives) job training and hire “The People of New Orleans” into carpentry, pluming, roofing, electrical, paving, etc., programs so they can go back home rebuild their own city. Obama is going to pardon 80 or so prisoners unjustly imprisoned, right? Well, what about the other hundreds of thousands sitting in prison on minor offenses serving 20+ year sentences, are they just supposed to sit there and rot? Why are Black non-violent men languishing away in Angola penitentiary in New Orleans while “illegals” take their place in the rebuilding efforts? Why can’t these men move into those unused trailers, with their families so they can be fathers, and receive a livable wage for job training so they can become the responsible citizens they have always wanted to be? This country spends untold amounts on defense contractors (that does nothing for the average tax paying citizen) to destroy and rebuild other nations; how about spending a little, just a little to “BUILD” and uplift our own for once. I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not but the average person here doesn’t believe we’re heading in the right direction. Maybe that’s your cue to try something different? P.S. The words of that Kristen McQueary, the Chicago Tribune and all the rest of the media and their mouth pieces in this country are only verbalizing the agendas of the policy setters in a town near you.

I watched Treme. The corruption that ran through every goverenment agency was horrifying. Then at the other end there was the people who suffered the most. Their endurance their culture their music oh yes the music. It is was has kept them together. Many many artists have contributed their time to see that the culture of the 9th district and all those communities remains alive. It was a wholesale diliberate attempt to wipe out a peoples place home and culture and hand it over to the carpet baggers.

The Bunk's a good dude- he teamed up with Rod Dreher from the American Conservative to help him write a book about his family and New Orleans.
