Well, I’m a veteran and I would never discredit his service or any other active member or veteran. However, there is a massive difference between being a warrior on the battlefield and managing the Dept. of Defense and there is no doubt that Hegseth is intelligent as well. He has extremely deep personal issues that would directly affect his decision making in this capacity, look how he acted when challenged during this hearing, you could see him losing control of his emotions and quickly at times. The worst part of the hearing was, none of the Senators asked about his qualifications from either side, one side was diving into his actions and the other side was defending his actions, it was pathetic at best. Clearly he will be confirmed as will the rest of trump’s nominees. Hopefully, they don’t destroy us so bad that we can’t recover, it took years and lots of money to build these agencies, imagine rebuilding them today and moving forward, the cost would be astronomical.

I was listening to Heather Cox Richardson this afternoon, and she said something that was profound. Hegseth does not meet the criteria of being the best of the best. The person to be in charge needs to be diplomatic, be highly educated, and speak more than one language. They need to realize that the military is not to be automatically used in a combative manner, and through diplomacy, combat should be a last resort, meaning avoid it through the use of words. A weekend morning TV show does not give Hegseth the experience nor the education to conduct himself in the manner of diplomacy. He is nowhere near being the best of the best.
