I do like the detail from 4E that Demogorgon wasn't original two-headed. He had one head until a god named Amoth split him down the middle in a fight.

This lore about Demogorgon also has me wondering something. Where does Frazz-Urb'luu fit into the Abyssal history? He was stated as being the lord of all other Demons at one point , even able to summon the other Demon Lords to his court at will for his amusement, but lost that position of power when he was imprisoned in the Grayhawk setting. When would this have happened? It doesn't seem possible for it to fit into the timeline.
@chickenborn7697 Жыл бұрын
Possibly a lie spread by Fraz-Urb'luu himself. I would imagine such talk makes the other Demon Lords mad, which fits the Prince of Deception well! It is funny how his staff is said to have shattered to pieces, but is in fact hidden within the Demonomicon of Iggwilv. Not all lore is reliable. Which is convenient, as the creators contradict each other at every other turn.

Fraz was stated to be a devil who was banished so he headed to the abyss, became a demon prince and became weakened in the process, got summoned to Faerun and imprisoned. As such he now hates all mortals plus he lost his staff which is in the demonomicon.

@@jcm3949 I’ve seen that lore talked about in KZbin videos, but I can’t find any actual sources to back it up. It’s the same with Orcus’ wiki backstory that claims he was a mortal soul that climbed its way through the Abyssal hierarchy to what he is now. No sources outside the wiki back that story up.

You seemed to have edited the part about pronunciation... I enjoyed your well crafted rebuttal about fantasy names. That you seamlessly spoke itxkichtal was well said. I am a subscriber whether you like it or not.

Thank you, I had to practice Ixitxachitl a lot before recording lol. And don’t get me started on Leemooggoogoon 😂. What do you mean by I “edited the part about pronunciation”?
@newbdestroyer99972 ай бұрын
Yeah I dig most of that but when a creator (Gary Gygax not some KZbinr) says this is how it's pronounced.....you don't get to say that's wrong. Demogorgon is his creation. His name. If a pronunciation is provided....THAT and ONLY that one ..is the correct one. Imagine if people mispronounced Bilbo or Frodo......JRR Tolkien says "this is how their names are to be said" and some people arrogantly say naw imma say it another way. Those people are idiots. Demogorgon has a pronunciation.....just one. How his creator says. That's like Mako and Chocobo. Most of us said it wrong until the later games. Then we learned. So you can try to say "made up fantasy words don't have a pronunciation" but....again....THEIR CREATOR says otherwise. And I worked for TSR ..... they're far pickier than you realize with good reason.

The Abyss being a plane of evil and chaos, all descriptions of anything it contains are accurate AND utterly incorrect at the same time.

I didn't realize Demogorgon was ever considered a Deity. I know Orcus achieved that but has currently lost it. I got into D&D with 5E, and 5E seems to pretty firmly take the stance that the Demon Lords are NOT on the level of Deities at all.
@Genghis_Sean Жыл бұрын
Most demon lords aren’t gods but some are (Lolth and Umberlee are examples). That being said, Demogorgon is only referred to as a god in the 2e book Monster Mythology. I can’t find any other source that calls him a god, but neither can I find one that explicitly retcons it and says he isn’t a god.

@Genghis_Sean well all demon lords believe themselves to be Gods until they get rekt.

Stranger things is an insult. They need to make their own shvt not ripoff everything from my entire upbringing. Demogorgon isn't for a bunch of stupid ass little kids pretending they have powers. Worse they made Demogorgon into some pansy little trash mobs. Please...as a licensed DM and 16 year employee at TSR..... don't ever give that trash ripoff show credit for stealing from dungeons and dragons. They didn't even pilfer correctly. They deserve zero credit.
