Watching the second one hit the ground blade tip first was glorious ! I wonder how many wind turbines are abandoned by failed companies and the local government has to decommission them ?

I don't know how tall this turbine was but there is an application to install 69 of them near our home here in Australia. They will be 7MW, each one standing at 280m high and 200m wide (918 feet high and 656 feet wide) and they will be built in our beautiful rural valley a few kilometres from our our historic town from the Gold Rush era. Our region is wine, grazing and cropping country are we are blessed with just about every iconic native wildlife including endangered birds and bats. For some reason our region was selected as a Renewable Energy Zone. They are halfway through the planning stages and they are up to 800 wind turbines so far. These will be included in dozens of projects along with industrial solar. We will have hundreds of square kilometres of renewables just in our region alone. It's devastating.

Guessing: either there was a major component failure that wasn’t economically feasible to repair, given the size of cranes needed to reach the nacelle, or the unit was at the end of it’s service life. CDI itself likely doesn’t even know, they are just the subcontractors with the 💥💥💥💥

Did they both fail? Are they installing bigger ones? I don't get it, they couldn't possibly have paid for themselves for the amount of power they produced vs. their presumed lifespan?

They are only good for around 20 years. Then they need to be replaced. They do not make $. As Warren Buffett said he only invests in them because of the government subsidies. With out that they lose $.

Wind Turbines never pay for themselves no matter how long they operate. If they were not heavily subsidized with your tax dollars they would never make it off the engineering drawing!!!

@stellamcwick8455
@stellamcwick8455 Жыл бұрын
You think this is bad, you should see how much of a coal plant actually ends up as landfill. And the millions of tons of toxic coal ash that is just sitting in on site unlined landfills too. All of it completely useless, just sitting there.
@paradiselost9946
@paradiselost9946 Жыл бұрын
But but but niiitrogen emissions. Farming is lowly work. Everyone should focus on important work, like lawyers and real estate agents.
@margaretarmstrong2445
@margaretarmstrong2445 Жыл бұрын
@@stellamcwick8455 You really need to research the cradle to grave story of wind, solar and backup batteries. There is massive amounts of toxic waste every step of the way! We are mining more raw materials as a direct result of the push for renewables than at any time in man's history, particularly coal. But many of the other materials result in far worse toxic waste than coal. Manufacturing too, particularly silicon ingots for crystalline silicon solar panels leave vast amounts of toxic waste. End of life is yet to be resolved in regard to this infrastructure. Renewables have made environmental damage and human degradation far worse than any other form of energy production in the history of mankind.
