Great story, really wholesome, but... Immortality is horror in my eyes, especially in cases like this, where an immortal person falls in love and finds themselves a mortal mate. Living with the fact that one of them will sooner or later die due to age (if something unfortunate doesn't happen) while the other one will still look and physically feel like only few moments passed, gradually losing your beloved ones to time, ilnesses etc. and living with that grief and loneliness eternally, that must be so painful. That's why in fiction, I always feel sorry for immortal characters who fall in love with ordinary humans, like for example, Tohru from Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, she knows that one day, it will come, and there's no way around it, but still tries to live each day as happily as possible, and I love the fact that in Vermeil in Gold, Vermeil and Alto have connected life spans, so they won't go through pain of losing their significant other, cause they once one of them dies, the other one will die too, so basically, not even death will separate them. I'm really glad that I, just like all people around the world, have only limited timespan, not only because of what I wrote here, but also, it gives every single thing, every simple joy, much more meaning.

In Dragonmaid, its been implied several times that Kobiyashi could become an immortal, she could leave earth to a world with mana and live longer via magic or become a dragon herself (implied to be how Fafnir was born). But Kobiyashi is wise enough to know immortality is not everything its cracked up to be and would rather stay human if she has a choice.

I also think this about the Emperor of Man from Warhammer 40K; he was born in around 6000 BC and moved and hid amongst humans until sometime after the 25th Millennium (yes you read right after 25,000 AD) he had relationships and even children during that 30,000 plus years. I couldn't even begin to imagine the agony of going through untold centuries of watching everything you know and love at absolute best grow old and die with you forever looking the same, that even as a super human like he was would take a toll and I could only speculate how long before I would just become numb to it.
