I feel bad for souls games. they have such great world's and lore. such tragic heroes and villians such amazing stories and the most beautiful music. in any other format they'd be praised for this. but so many can't look past the purposeful difficultly they don't see the beauty because they aren't willing to work for it. and that is truly tragic

I felt like I would never play a souls game before. I've heard of them, but the difficulty was a bit too high for me when I heard about them. Then I listened to the abyss watchers' theme and then wanted the game. I got Bloodborne instead and I say to anyone who thinks that they wouldn't play it, get any souls game, gets some friends, and enjoy this wonderful series of games.

At first you pick up the souls game to see its difficulty, you then appreciate this art. these games are hidden gems. these game are beautiful. They scuplted hope and dispare for me. allowed me to reflect things that i have or want to do. The soul borne series changed my life for the better and worse. the souls games are made to be painful and beutiful. without the dificulty, the games would not have been made. there is a charm to how dificult it is and how they use their philosophies. as one great man said, art is anything, as he broke a urinal off the wall and wrote his name.

Pretty sure a genre defining, award winning, game critic acclaimed, best selling game isn't a hidden gem :I "as one great man said, art is anything, as he broke a urinal off the wall and wrote his name." If we're thinking about the same guy, he was a hack, not an artist, and what he said is wrong, stupid, and dangerous (for art). Art is something that requires talent and effort to create, uncounted generations of writers, sculptors, painters, etc, didn't worked their asses off to create things people could marvel at, enjoy for the mere beauty of it, be made to reflect on an actual message, for a guy to just put his frickin name on a urinal and declare it to be art. A urinal you didn't even made isn't art. Playmobils you half melted aren't art. Half a canoe rotating whilst suspended to a ceiling isn't art. And yeah, all of these sound oddly specific, because they are all things that were deemed "art" by idiots who thought that sophisticated explanations for half hearted crap made said crap art just as much as the Mona Lisa, the Aeneid, the Pietà, or indeed the souls games.
