The singer alone in the beginning gives the sensation of someone singing a lullaby for you, them the instruments begins to take place, as your mind along with the beatifull voice takes you to a deep slumber. The pace is slow and the happy change of the music could be related to having a nice dream, them the song returns to it's original pace, near the end it changes to a rather mysterious rythim, and goes back to only the singer remaining. Maybe you woke up, or you just drifted away in the eternal sleep, who knows.

You can link the bonfires and use your body as fuel for the first flame for a little more time, or just leave and plunge the world in dark.

I wish this game could be remastered. There is just something so beautiful about the message Demon's Souls has about humanity. It's one of the most hopeless yet most hopeful games I have ever experienced when I was a kid. Just knowing that despite the state Boletaria is in by the end, the game can still end on a hopeful message that not every human is hungry for power (assuming you just walked away in the end). This kind of ending is something I really wish I could see in a few more games. A lot of developers try and make players feel like the end moment should be epic by having a huge orchestra playing in the background or some long-winded speech about what was won or lost. That's not to say games like that have terrible endings, but Demon's Souls ending is amazing because of how simple it is. The player succeeds in doing the right thing and despite how this should be a victory, this song is like a bittersweet reminder that while the world might be saved, there is so much pain and suffering because of the corruption humanity submitted to beforehand. Only through fighting for those such as Stockpile Thomas, Ostrava, and the Maiden in Black can you see what makes this world worth preserving, even at the expense of the Soul Arts. And how this makes Demon's Souls such a powerful game is how players are the one's who chose to help these characters, with just the gameplay mechanics in hand and not some button prompt shown in a cutscene. Demon's Souls respects the intelligence of its players by letting it own world show us how in disarray everything is, it doesn't need to bog the experience down with needing to explain the fate of every character, and instead it just opts to let players choose for themselves on what kind of person they want to set out to be in a hellish world. And I damn well know that when I chose not to make the same mistake that so many others have made in the end, that there is no better feeling knowing that I chose humanity over total power that corrupts.
@Odinsday4 жыл бұрын
DeS is probably the "happiest" game in the entire series. You get a clear choice of the evil path, killing the Maiden and pursuing power, or leaving the Maiden with the Old One as to preserve humanity at the expense of soul arts. Dark Souls 1 completely throws that shit out the window and just says "You either preserve a dying age of fire perpetually, or become the Dark Lord. Either way, you motherfuckers are gonna die." It's probably the most cynical game in the series looking back on it. Not even Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne were this bleak. It's one of the few games that actually does an ending like this right. The ending of Dark Souls 1 kind of scarred me in a way. It is seriously one of, if not the bleakest game I have ever played. DeS in comparison is oddly hopeful and optimistic and I was shocked to find this out when I first played it. I don't know if Miyazaki hit a mad depression spiral or something but man....

The new one is just different, and I appreciate it for that but the original feels more "correct" for the mood its trying to envoke. "Slumber", it's in the name. And this one, while pretty and moving, remains fairly stagnant as far as sounds and instrumentation so it maintains a sort of melancholy peace throughout. The new one is more of an epic arrangement, with more swelling sections and loud spots. Sounds great, but doesn't really feel like slumber to me.

Demon souls is actually a sad game.It is about the king's allant kingdom,and the king allant stand behind it himself.And his poor son. The end of the game is saddest,beacuse you find the real king allant that looks like mutated monster.Actual story of this game is pretty sad because of this fact that once beautiful kingdom became only shadow of the past with the mutated monster and a demon on the throne.

The depressing vibe is real I'm playing the ps3 version and sometimes i just feel sad it feels like im there.. and i feel guilty for killing the bosses which were once human such a masterpiece

You know what's more sad? That in the lore it happened just in few days. And years then passed until someone with the power and will brings the old one back to slumber.

I kinda hope Fromsoft do more tracks like this in future games, would be nice to have more upbeat tracks rather than having them be sad and depressing all the time.

Shimesaba When you speed up the Nameless Song by 2 times, it sounds like a long phone ring tone.

IIRC this is the credits song, and Nameless is DaS's credits song, so very likely meant to be similar as the games almost mirror each other in some respects.

I'm a game master for the Call of Cthulhu tabletop rpg system and I've noticed that the Old One shares a lot of similarities with Azathoth, the HP Lovecraft god. A large mass at the center of the universe who is omnipotent, but lies in a semi-conscious, unconscious state, and is generally unaware that he created the planets, animals, humans, and all supernatural creatures. Reality is a dream that Azathoth is having, and when it wakes up, everything will disappear. Because of that, powerful entities have to sing it to slumber eternally so we can continue to exist. It's said that Azathoth created the entire universe, and will ultimately destroy it. The Old One is very similar to Azathoth, but it appears to have at least some form of consciousness that compels others to bring it souls. Eventually, all souls will be back to the Old One, and when that happens, the universe will completely empty, except for it, until one day, it will release them all in big bang like fashion, creating a new universe.

demon's souls ost was the best imo (maybe tied with bloodborne) but this borders on smooth jazz...

I do believe that Bloodborne's ost is better, but Demon's Souls ost is good nonetheless, even better than Dark Souls 1 and 2.
@nirokal3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think Demon's Souls has the best ost too, even after playing the remake which has it's own good versions of the originals masterpieces. Not only that, it was also the best game in the franchise, Bloodborne is good but og fans know it doesn't hold a candle to Demon's Souls.

The second most depressing track in the series, along with Epilogue. Both songs perfectly represent the death of the series, and I must say, The Ringed City was the perfect end for the souls series, I almost don’t want Elden Ring because of that, and I especially would be infuriated if there was ever a DS4.
@moustachio052 жыл бұрын
Elden ring, bloodborne, sekiro and demons souls don't take place in the dark souls universe but yeah i hope ds4 won't ever come out ds3 was the perfect end to the legendary trilogy
@Z_Moonlight-2 жыл бұрын
@@moustachio05 for me bloodborne is part of the souls series, the lore is left to the player after all.
I hope no wait I dream that one day the creators of Demon Souls and Dark Souls will create more of these games but more harder, more detail, more of everything in the future. This game must not and will not die.

this is literally the most outstanding track in the souls franchise. It sounds so different from the entire DeS-DSIII score, I'm not a music major so I can't really explain it but
@Yawyna1243 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this and song of the milfanito which essentially has an identical theme are vastly different due to the different stylings of boss fight OST and a lullaby. Definitely close to my fondness of the Majula theme.

This ost has woodwinds and a rythm so much different from the other soulsborne songs the way the piano is played. It also has either a string technique not used in other songs or played at an octave that ive never heard in other songs in the series. It sounds so american/japanese theatre-esque
