The 'demon slayer marks' are most likely related to the user's breathing style. Tanjiro gets flames as a Sun breather. Mitsuri gets a heart because, of coure, Love breathing. And so on...

Demon crest is a miss translation of demon mark which is also what gyokko calls muichiro's mark.

Honestly super excited that you guys are going to give the Rurouni Kenshin remake a go. As someone who watched the original anime as a teen I am real excited for it and I want it to get as much support as possible. Now onto Demon Slayer and Mitsuri being the absolute best!

I can buy mitsuri's hair turning pinkish color from eating too many sakura rice cakes explanation regardless if its actually true or not. like if you eat too much carrots or other foods with high beta-carotene, your skin esp. the palms will turn yellowish.

Thanks for the shoutout… after I posted, I read from comments elsewhere people pointing out that usually the demon backstories are when Tanjiro is present, as he’s very empathetic, so maybe he’s sensing the sadness of demons, and thus we can see their sad pasts. Still, there was no backstory for Enmu (Lower One). I never thought I’d think Iguro Obanai (Snake Hashira) would look cute, but he did in that flashback with Mitsuri, lol. I ship them. Prior to this, though, he was not a very likable character. He was one of those vehemently opposed to allowing Tanjiro and Nezuko to live in the trial, and yes, he’s the one that pushed down on Tanjiro’s back with his elbow. He seemed to like to use the term “shinyou shinai” 信用しない (I don’t/won’t believe it), as he didn’t believe Tanjiro’s story that his sister was not a threat, and even after hearing about Rengoku’s death, he said that he refused to believe it. It didn’t seem he was looking down on Rengoku though. However, when talking to Tengen, he did seem to talk down to him, saying effectively, “I guess congrats are in order. You killed an Upper Rank Demon, albeit it was the lowest ranking of the Upper Ranks. Still, it was an Upper Rank, I guess.” The Hatred demon says that the mark on Mitsuri’s neck looks similar to a Demon’s mark pattern (“oni no moyou” 鬼の模様). Your guess is as good as mine to what this is referring to, as we haven’t seen (at least I think we haven’t) any mark like that on a demon. OR by referring to it as a “demon’s mark pattern,” perhaps it’s a mark that is indicative of something/someone strong against demons. Regarding the patterns, the one on Tanjiro looks like flames (since he’s using Sun Breathing), the one on Muichiro looks like mist (since he’s doing Mist Breathing), and the one on Mitsuri looks like a heart (since she’s doing Love Breathing). 26:14 “I wonder if this is unique to him?” I wondered the same thing when I saw it. Like, how and when did he discover he could do this? Is he the first and only? Were/Are there others who can do it too? Was it taught to him? Also, you said that consuming demon blood turns you into a demon, but I don’t think that’s true. Until now, we’ve been told that only Muzan can turn people into demons, and it looked like it was by injecting people with blood. Injection and consumption are two different things. But over time, we learn other things, like that Dr. Tamayo was able to find a medical way to use demon blood to turn people into demons, and from Mugen Train and the Entertainment District arcs, it seems like perhaps Upper Moons may be able to turn people into demons. But again, still, it’s probably by injection. Genya is actually eating demon flesh, so it’s not the same thing, it seems to me.
