Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc: Explaining the Episode Count... or lack thereof

This was super last minute video idea but after another fiasco on twitter I felt a desire to make it. We will have to wait until Sunday for an episode count - we are almost there!

Personally, I find that leaker to be very reliable, especially with his Kimetsu leaks, so I trust his 8 episodes claim. Though of course, with any production, things can change from when that leak comes out to when the show actually releases. Though I would actually be happier with 5 episodes as it better fits my agenda of ~6-episode HTA season + IC Movie 1 all releasing in 2024 lol. I also don't think bloating the arc with anime original content will bode well for its quality or reception either. Also, people forget that every season since EDA has had a double length first and last episode (well 1.5 episodes for EDA finale). So that supposed 8 episode count is actually 10 - basically a full season. 5 episodes would be 7. Idk basically just trust in ufotable, they've yet to fail us. But that 8 (10) episode count does worry me considering that would be 4 episodes longer than Mugen Train with 4 less chapters... Side note: I don't know if you collect these, but the SSV Limited Edition Blu-ray just got announced and released on Crunchyroll for pre-order!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on that soundtrack. The Mu in Muichiro episode has probably my favorite OST of all time. Well maybe behind both of the Kamado siblings' songs.

A specific number I also think is a realistic expectation is 7. Ufotable would maybe want to stick to familiar episode counts, and seeing that the Mugen Train Arc was adapted into 7 episodes, this could get the same treatment. Both EDA and SVA were 11 episodes, so in contrast it would not surprise me if MTA and HTA both end up being 7 episodes long. It's also important to note, that even though the Hashira Training Arc does in fact have 8-9 chapters, I think the studio will adapt at least the first three chapters of the next arc into this adaptation, which counts as an additional episode on its own. And sprinkled together with additional content, this could definitely be a great and satisfying season. Whatever the length ends up being, 5, 6, 7, or 8-- I'm all here for it.
