To be honest nearing the end of the manga when Tanjiro was turned into a demon I was hoping that would meant the manga would go on with Nezuko training to become a Slayer and now had to be the one to stop her brother. A dark but fitting path for the story to go on.

Tanjiro could've suddenly realised he became a demon when he attacked Nezuko and run away and go undercover so that he wouldn't hurt anyone. And then the remaining demon slayers could've hunt him and cured him.Thus, creating a possibility for a whole new sequel and also a sad ending.
