Really liking my Lemon 13" 3 zone E-Cymbal as a ride, although I did have to open it up and switch the internal cabling to get it to function as a ride and not a crash. Definitely wanting to invest in a proper Lemon 15" ride, another 13" crash, and then a hi-hat setup. BTW, Thanks for your demos on these Lemon E-Cymbals, and other tutorials! I just setup one of these Lemon controllers on my Alesis Command module and it works fine closing and opening the hi hat. The only issue I have and don't know if this is normal or not is the hi hat triggers if you release the pedal quickly. It's not an issue with the controller, the hi hat is triggered by the shock of the hi hat pedal when released, its fine when released softly.
@demonicsweaters2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's just triggering from the vibration. You could try turning up your threshold setting (if the command has that) for the hi hat.

A2E conversion update: I got a crazy discount on a lightly used GoEdrum hi-hat controller on Reverb, and am attempting to temporarily make one of my rather beat up (but working) Roland CY-6 11" cymbals into a hi-hat. My TD-6V model hasn't got here yet and I'm almost positive the GoEdrum won't work with my Alesis Trigger I/O. Sooo we'll see... First impressions tho? I'm actually not too impressed w/ the build quality of the GoEdrum, and in hindsight I probably should of stuck w/ my gut and followed your advice. Ha! Hopefully once my TD-6V module arrives if it all works out. If not? It was around a $40 investment lesson learned I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ BTW Thanks soo much once again Justin! What kind of module are you using in this video? Roland? I have an SPDX PRO and want to use an e hi hat with it. I have the foot controller but it would be a better feel to have the hats in the traditional setup. Did you have to do anything specific for compabtibility with the Module? Did it recokgnize this in module assignment as the VH-11? I was impressed that you could get foot splashes, That is one of the main things I miss that I don't have becuase I am using the FD-9 hat controller with my SPDX PRO. maybe there is a way to get that to trigger, but I am yet to see anything out there that answers these questions.

Hi Justin, this video may be helpful - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLcZXZ5fdCBl9U. He uses a shorter cymbal stopper instead of the long sleeve, allowing you to use the washers/locking rings up top like it's intended. I think you sort of need that to get the offset set correctly in some modules. Anyways, thought I'd share since I happened to come across it.
@demonicsweaters3 жыл бұрын
Cool, though his looks just as bouncy haha. I might have come up with a solution though. Basically I removed all the top clutch hardware to let it be looser, not tighter. This allows the hi hat to move more freely with out the bounce of the rubber. I’m gonna fully test it soon.

Greetings from Hawaii, Justin!! Thank you for all the work you put into these videos; they have been very informative. I have to ask you think the td11or mk2pro would work, or should i avoid snakes and go for a separate trigger inputs? have had an alesis surge for a year and my hihat went wonky.. i ordered the lemon, 2 leg stand and yamaha pcy135.. but seems like the controller gets stuck on closed.. now looking at upgrading the module if this is the case. Any advice would be appreciated!!

I think the TD-11 is a great little module for the price. A DM-10 could probably be coaxed into sounding good as well, haha. But out of the two, I'd go for the TD-11. Yamaha hi hats are generally not compatible with Alesis or Roland stuff FYI. Snakes or individual cables really matter very little to me.
@berhtjotun90112 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks a lot for replying and your advice! I am using ez drummer rather than on board sounds. my whole concern was thinking the snake cable is whats effing me up, so now i am concerned about ordering a new module with a snake and going through the same problem as with surge.. I am just watching your "td-6 in 2022" video and now im wondering if i could get away with that instead of the td-11. i just want my hi hat to work XD. mk11 is like 150 used, dm10 is 220. td-6 is about 100 and td-11 is around 230. ill order the td-6 right away if i can use the lemon with it.. Hey hope you are having a good day over there! Update: just saw that only has midi in/out.. dont know if i like that.. so i can afford any of the tds up to 11 i guess. just found out td-11 are the only ones with a usb port. so i have to choose td11, mk2, or dm10 to replace my surge module Update 2: Just found out the surge comes with a dm pedal and the lemon is a continuous variable controller., correct me if im wrong about that. mk2 comes with a real hat pedal which is more like what the lemon does..

I used my existing Pearl clutch and put the metal washer which usually sits on the cup directly under the cymbal and tightened, I haven't used the shaped bit provided.
