I’m proud to say being a fireman in one of the busiest companies in New Jersey. These guys do an excellent job, if I was younger, I would join.

The lack of hussle and lackluluster wandering around still amazes me. That ladder crew could have pulled a 16' straight ladder and been to the roof and done in the time it took to navigate the "big stick" through the trees. C'mon guys, lets work smarter and not harder.

_"The lack of hussle and lackluluster wandering around still amazes me"_ -WTH does that even mean? -Do you want them running around flailing their arms and screaming? -Should they be on roller skates...? How about hoverboards...? _"That ladder crew could have pulled a 16' straight ladder and been to the roof and done"_ -Done doing what exactly? -It was placed as a precaution. _"C'mon guys, let's work smarter and not harder"_ -Yet here you are crying about "hussle" -Meanwhile they quickly knocked the fire down and kept it from spreading beyond the room of origin. -BTW you might not come off as such a clown if you at least learned how to properly spell... although I doubt it.

You guys really should just post the entire video AS IS, without the heavy editing. A lot of time is missing here resulting in questionable activities & procedures of the firefighters on scene. No need to worry about complaints about videos too long, as that's why you can scroll ahead or play at 2x.

Bread and Butter room and contents
@ronjohnson180010 күн бұрын
Seems like a lot of apparatus for what looks initially to be a room and contents fire w/ spread to the attic space. Someone educate me why no initial attack with high volume in that window.
@demonracer29 күн бұрын
Because the line was stretched to the interior, no need for an exterior attack on a contents fire. Also 4 engines and 1 truck for a house fire is an extremely minimal response, contrary to your comment

Yea I don't get your comment. We have aerial in our fleet, why not utilize it? It's more stable and versatile working platform than a ground ladder, can be relocated with absolutely no physical effort, AND our tax money paid for it...use it!
@kenwaters658914 күн бұрын
Why leave room for the ladder? It’s a single story.
@dougschreier15414 күн бұрын
Because it's not the use of the aerial ladder, it's also a rolling tool box with forcible entry tools, pike poles for pulling ceilings, generator and cord reels for lights and smoke ejectors. Plus most hand lines are between 200 & 250 ft long which streach a long way and some ground ladders ( depending on length) can be heavy which require 2-3 people to carry. That's why you want to leave room in front and rear for truck companies for the amount of tools on board that engines don't carry.
@kenwaters658913 күн бұрын
@ we carry all of that on our engines
@dougschreier15413 күн бұрын
Most places that run dual companies (Eng & Truck ) the majority of tools and other equipment are carried on truck companies. You might carry a limited supply of tools, 1 fan, and small generator etc on an engine but I bet you don't carry 6-8 pike poles, 4-6 cord reels positive pressure fans, several smoke ejectors that a truck or squad carries plus a large supply of ground ladders. Most Engines only carry one 28 or 35 ft extension ladder, a 14 ft roof ladder and two pike poles. That's the reason for a squad or truck in front because you only have to go to one unit for several tools and not to two or three engines if you need say 2-roof ladders on smoke ejectors. If you watch other videos you will always see the truck in the front of the structure. In alot of places that have an staffed Engine and truck, the truck goes out before the engine so it can take the front of the structure and not having to drive over the supply line if one was laid by the engine company. Don't get me wrong when I started out in a career fire dept in maryland we also carried a lot junk on the engine because the first due truck was so far away, but as new truck company's were place inservice most of the items were placed on the truck or squad. Then the engines only carried the required items like a 28 ft ladder, roof ladder, two pike poles, a 5000 watt on-board mounted generator, one cord reel and two mounted and wired scene lights on telescopic poles which left compartment space for for other engine company junk.
