One of my projects which may involve the Lee Hand Press in various stages is loading buckshot and slugs into brass cases for a .410 Lever Action ! I have Magtech .410 brass that uses Large Pistol Primers , and also have Starline brass .444 Marlin cases for the same purpose . I'll deprime and prime the cases with the hand press and will also use it to round over the case mouths on top of slugs , buckshot or over shot wads . I'll also be playing around with .223 Rem , .243 Win , 7mm-08 , .44 Rem. Mag and .45-70 ... all for a T/C Encore ! Should be FUN !!!

I still have this little guy and it still gets used every once in a while. It's a great tool to start with and to even have in your kit when you become more advanced. Makes a great travel loader too.

I dont know if you still read comments this far back,but I just ordered the updated version of this thing primarily because of this vid. Also,I wish you still made build vids on here. They were my faves. Cheers!

I'm still around and still interact with comments. I always planned a return eventually I just don't want to make a video saying I am and not pulling through like I have in the past. since I've had 3 kids and bought a fixer upper on some land things just got too busy But I do want to return and when I do I want to make sure it's a regular upload. Not once every couple months but also not every other day like I did. Kinda burnt me out. But I will be back and I thank you for your comment. Unfortunate KZbin just doest like us. But when I do return I want to make a build series on possibly a secondary account. Maybe do a DVD. KZbin can't touch me then. Until then stay subscribes for more future vidjyas......... like thisssss 😎👍

I mostly just want to reload for 9mm,so I've been up whatever looks okay at the range,meaning other peoples. Will the decapper size the casing back down too,or do I need a separate die for that? Its a little hard deciphering what I'm reading online.

I usually deprime before I clean. I've heard yays and nays either way. Some people say that the dirty shell will bugger up the depriming die, but being carbide I have not seen any problems after 2400 rounds. The other reason I deprime first is to make sure the primer pocket gets clean and I don't have to use primer reaming tool as much. Good vid, need to see more like this

Just ordered one. Im getting into reloading a little at a time. Step one was collecting brass. The range I go to is indoor, pistol calibers only. The floor is littered with cases. I plan to use this for decapping while parked in front of the tv. Inexpensive, apparently well made and made in the usa. Whats not to like? Thanks for the vid, the leather jacket and im gonna sub

Thanx alot for your support! It's been a great press through the years but it does have its limitations like full length sizing hi powered hunting cartridges. The linkage has a bit too much give in it but it's more than suitable enough for just decapping or doing intermediate cartridges.

Hey no problem bro. I'm going to start visiting your channel much more often. You are a world of knowledge. There are a couple of other guys on here that I enjoy watching the information that they put out, and you are definitely one of them. Another thing is I have a hard time concentrating, but for some reason I don't have that problem with your channel. Probably because you speak in common sense, and not fancy words.

Actually, they recommend that you DON'T make firm contact with the die. While unlikely, potential exists to crack the carbide when making repeated firm contact. What I've always recommended is to adjust the dies pretty much as you did, BUT with a thin piece of paper between the die and the ram. This ensures fully sizing the case like you wished, but also ensures avoiding firm contact with the carbide part of the die.

I do know and Infact have a cool trick for decaping berdan primmer cases. Mine are all brass though. My steel cases sit on th range too long and end up rusting so steel is a lost cause for me. I know it done though. It takes different dies to size steel.

There are sooo many of these case altering tricks. Like all these 300 blackouts and fireballs and 6.8's are all just modified 223 cases I Beleive. The mosin round uses other a 308 bullet or a 301 British bullet. Depends on what the boar of the rifle is. That's when slugging come handy.

Not only do I not have the files for that program.....but it sounds like a terrible design being made out of plastic. I would avoid doing it at all costs. There's a reason these are made out of metal. Plastic will flex and break.

Since we're on the topic of reloading if I'm not mistaken and someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you take a 308 rifle casing and cut it at the right height it becomes a 45 acp a friend told me this but I compared the 2 and they are very close

Still better than a Lee Loader and only $20 more plus the Die set. Worth it buying one of these over a crappy Lee Loader and your brass will last longer using traditional dies.

one thing I try to make clear in my more informative vids is that I'm just a joe blow blue collar dude doing these things and anybody can really. I do the vids pretty much if you sitting next to me and I was explaining it. You don't need to the exact name of a part/ect to read between the lines and get the drift. Some of these vids you almost need to watch 2 or three other vids just to understand what the first vid was talking about lol. I've been given plenty of shit for my vocabulary but...

Hi. I'm new to reloading. Question. When you insert the carbide die into the hand loader how do you know when it is adjusted to the proper depth so you can turn out a correctly length of the bullet? Thank You. Sincerely, JAMES.
@MadMetalShop
@MadMetalShop 8 жыл бұрын
dies are not for length sizing. you want a case trimmer for that. when you size the diameter of the case you want the top die to seat snug against the bottom shell holder when sizing case diameter. if not then you might have loading issues because the case didn't get sized it's entire length. also depends on how many times you've loaded them. you don't always have to do full length sizing. many rifle cartridges you can do the full length on the first load then only neck sizing after that untill they need a full length sizing again. this is where experience helps.
