They are cool. I love mines. If you want more details about a photo after it gives what it is just say I want more details and it will go into full on description. I don't know what I took a picture of the other day but it went into massive details about the image after I said that request and I was pleasantly surprised. As a person who is blind and lives independently, these are very handy for things around the house when I want to be hands-free.

If you want something to be read out loud, (from start to finish), you have to say, look and read out loud, followed by what you are wanting to say. Just a tip, in case you didn’t know that. I love my meta glasses as well.

@@josemanuellastra2488 yes but the AI portion is only available to USA and another country so far. You would have to look that up online my friend.

Yes, they are incredibly helpful, but they do have limitations... I've tried many different prompts and it's honestly a hit or miss for me. Sometimes, I'll get really great descriptions, and sometimes its super general and even if I ask for more details, it doesn't always do it.
@carrieonaccessibilityАй бұрын
I find that this sometimes works and sometimes does not. For documents like letters, it is usually more helpful and will usually read more, but when trying to read longer things like magazines, books, and textbooks, it struggles.

13:00 It appears that these glasses do not have autofocus or the lenses are factory adjusted to be focused around 1-2 meters. As a result, it cannot read any small text which seems like a huge mistake if you wanted to use the glasses to help reading small text. That said, it seems that the biggest limitation is hardcoded limits for the AI. Especially any question where AI interpreted the question as "can you describe any visible humans" it immediately went to "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that." mode.
@carrieonaccessibilityАй бұрын
I'm not sure how but usually if I hold it close enough, Aira agents and Meta AI can usually make text out. I can't really tell by the footage because details like that are too hard for me to see. And yes, the AI limitations are very frustrating... a lot of the time you have to do prompt engineering.
@MikkoRantalainenАй бұрын
@@carrieonaccessibility With the current state of AI, you have to do prompt engineering to achieve best results regardless of the task. I write software for living and have played with multiple AI systems and none achieve max performance without heavy prompt engineering.

Great job on this demo, Carrie. I think the absence of personal descriptions might be part of Meta's anti-bullying algorithm. It sounds like you have to ask questions in just the right way to get the info you want beyond a very general description. But they seem somewhat helpful if all you need to do is identify an item or have a label read or calling a service like Aira.
@carrieonaccessibilityАй бұрын
Yes, it can really be very helpful, but the amount of prompt engineering you have to do for specific information or for more detailed information is can be really a challenge.

I enjoyed your review. I don’t think I’ll be getting any because I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the price. And I don’t know if it’s a sensory issue or something, but I don’t like having things on my face. I realize this is more of a problem than a glass problem. I don’t even wear sunglasses most of the time.

Thank you! Also, I feel somewhat similarly. I kind of put the glasses up a lot of the time, but it's easy to just tilt them down. I also find myself putting it on and off a lot. :)

21:00 'At the mall, it seems like Meta should know your location and be better at telling you what store you're at. I'd probably just pull out my phone and ask "where am I" since a lot of places have indoor maps. Pretty disappointing
@carrieonaccessibility28 күн бұрын
Hmm. You have some great points. I wish it could know more about the environment, but I'm not sure how well that would work when it comes to saying "where am I". I can see if I'm in the store, but not sure about within the actual mall hallways.

Have you gotten meta to fully read something like a letter or document not just sum it up and how did you do it? Trying to do that with mine which i'm liking over all.

Yes, I have, but it can be hit or miss. Sometimes I say, "hey meta, read this from top to bottom" and will. But not all the time.

do you have to have what's app installed to set up the glasses? I thought I heard the Aira agent talking about using What's App.
@carrieonaccessibilityАй бұрын
Yes, you have to have whatsapp and connect it on the Meta View app. That's a one time set up and then Aira agents can send the links where all you have to do is press join.
@fuzziestlumpkinАй бұрын
Just to clarify, you may need it for Aira, but the only account you need to set up the glasses themselves is a Meta one. You don't have to link it to any of your other accounts, even those owned by Meta.

I feel like a good use case would be to read your mail and stuff but knowing how meta’s privacy policies are I wouldn’t trust them with the images that the glasses capture. These are great if they weren’t made by Meta. But for general use like for seen descriptions these seem to be good. I could see myself using these at the airport trying to find my gate or while out in a community trying to find a bus stop or something.
